Riccardo Calafiori keen on an Arsenal move as the Gunners are tipped to be the defenders’ preferred destination

As per the football transfer market expert ‘Fabrizio Romano’, Bologna FC’s Riccardo Calafiori is backing his potential move to Premier League club Arsenal. Despite interests from other top clubs such as – Chelsea, PSG, and Bayer Leverkusen, the 22-year-old reportedly prefers the Gunners and is waiting for any further communication from the English clubs’ part after agreeing on personal terms with them.

Romano also mentions that no talks between the center-back and any other club have surfaced till now. Arsenal from their end is also keen on the move and is pushing to sign the Italian player. As per Fabrizio Romano‘s official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) post, the final and decisive round of talks/negotiations has been ‘scheduled’ to get the deal over the line.

Riccardo Calafiori had a decent 2023-24 Seria A season. The center-back has impressed with his all-round performance for Bologna. He played 30 games for the Italian club in the last season. Riccardo apart from his solid defensive contributions also had seven goal contributions to his name (two goals and five assists). His height plays a crucial factor in him winning a decent percentage of aerial duels.

However, what stands out as the Italian defender is pretty good at the ball at his feet. He’s got that extra second in him in terms of looking over and finding a pass. Though not known for any sheer pace, Riccardo is capable of recovering and tracking back during hostile defensive situations. If Arsenal signs him, he can surely further enhance the already strong defensive side of Mikel Arteta’s team.
