Jamal Musiala rejects Bayern contract offer amidst Premier League interest – Reports
Ever since his breakout 2021/22 season, few players have been as influential for their side as Jamal Musiala has been for Bayern Munich. The youngster’s performances over the last few years have been a key reason why the club has been able to move on from Robert Lewandowski. Now with the presence of Harry Kane in the squad, Musiala has only grown as a player, contributing to 13 goals so far.
That includes three in his last three league games as the Bavarians continue to chase Bayer Leverkusen, who sit seven points ahead in first place. However, Musiala’s performances have attracted a lot of attention although since the 21-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer of 2026, Bayern aren’t concerned. That has now changed though as reports have indicated that the German has rejected Bayern’s £150,000-a-week new contract offer.
Musiala rejects £150,000-a-week new contract offer from Bayern
According to the Daily Star, the young attacker has rejected the new deal with his head reportedly turned by a move to the Premier League. This comes after both Manchester City and Liverpool had scouts watching the 21-year-old against Bayer Leverkusen in February. The Star reported that the £150,000-a-week contract offer has been on the table since the two parties were in negotiations.

But Musiala has since changed his mind, rejecting the offer and fueling speculation of a potential move away with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City very interested. The three Premier League giants aren’t the only horses in the race as the German has attracted attention from Spain as well. But the Star has reported that the Premier League trio are the front-runners with City leading the race.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in three-way battle
The Cityzens are reportedly overly confident that they can convince the 21-year-old to sign for them in the summer of 2024 although any potential move may cost north of £80 million. City were, reportedly, informed of Musiala’s decision a week ago and have been preparing their approach since. But the Star has reported that Liverpool are also confident of their approach, especially amidst reports that Mohamed Salah is set to leave at the end of the season.
Chelsea are also in the running but with them looking increasingly unlike of finishing in a European football spot, it does make it more difficult for the Blues to prove to be a convincing choice. That is even though Musiala did spend eight years as a Chelsea youth product before leaving for Bayern. However, the Star has added that the Blues could potentially qualify for Europe via the FA Cup although even then, it does drop them behind Liverpool and City in the race for Musiala.
