Relief for Argentina and Liverpool after latest Alexis Mac Allister injury update
Alexis Mac Allister injury is reportedly not as serious or worrying as previously expected according to the Argentine media. He is expected to be fit by next week as planned. He has been included in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the next game against Colombia and will be traveling with the team to Barranquilla where the game will be played.
Mac Allister’s international break had gone off to a fine start as he opened the scoring for Argentina in their World Cup qualifying win against Chile. But after an excellent first-half display, he was taken off injured in the second half with what is confirmed an adductor issue, per TyC Sports.
The injury was later described as more of a discomfort than anything major and the substitution was largely to avoid making it worse. He remained with the squad but trained separately compared to the rest of the squad ahead of Argentina’s game against Colombia.
While he has remained with the team, it is highly unlikely that he will play any part in the game against Colombia. Liverpool and Arne Slot will certainly hope that he doesn’t as they will want him back for the game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Mac Allister and Liverpool have made a very good start to the season. Although the goal against Chile was his first of the season, his performances have been excellent. Against Manchester United before the break, in particular, the 25-year-old was outstanding in a deeper midfield role as Liverpool tore United’s midfield to shreds.
