This exhilarating 2-0 victory marks their return to winning ways, after enduring a 1-1 draw against city rivals Atletico Madrid and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Losc Lille in the UEFA Champions League.

Modric’s class was on display as well, the veteran midfielder played a commanding role in the midfield guiding the team and providing an assist to Valverde to break the deadlock through the corner.

The French midfielder marked his return from injury against Lille during midweek. Subsequently started the game by securing his first La Liga appearance of the season and was impressive.

Although he could not get his name on the scoresheet like the previous season, Bellingham was vital playing on the left side of midfield occupying the half spaces and delivering several final third balls to his teammate.

The man of the match-worthy performance from Valverde started off with the firing shot from a distance on a well-worked set-piece to break the deadlock. He assisted Vinicius Jr for the second and even created three big chances.

Forwards

Kylian Mbappe (6.5/10)

Kylian Mbappe tried hard to add goals to his game and even dropped deep into the midfield to help out the team in build, however, it was a poor game as per his elite standards.

Vinicius Junior (8/10)

Operating on the extreme left flank, Vinicius stepped up for the Los Blancos by scoring another superb goal courtesy top-class finish from outside of the box to bag his fourth league goal of the season.

One of a few names of Villarreal who managed to impress with his performance, he was very much involved in both attacks and defence on the right hand of defence.

The Senegalese midfielder was all over the field thanks to his excellent work rate, he was greatly involved in buildups and also helped his team in defence.

A lot more was expected from Dani Parejo in the game, especially considering the quality of creative play in the midfield. Besides, several long balls he failed to create any key chances.

He was solid in defensive aspects within his duals and tackles and mainly functioned on the far right channels of the pitch
