Real Madrid vs Chelsea: Pre-season friendly Player Ratings as Los Blancos win 2-1
Real Madrid picked up their first win of pre-season as they beat Chelsea 2-1 in North Carolina. The goals were scored by Lucas Vazquez and Brahim Diaz. Real will now go back to Europe and take on Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. They will look to integrate Mbappe into the lineup after his vacation.
The second half of the game between Los Blancos and the Blues was largely sleepy after a bright and entertaining first 45 minutes as the teams threw multiple youth players on and had little desire to push their luck in search of more goals.
For Chelsea, it was another really disappointing outing in terms of the result and their defending. It was more of the same as the Blues were porous and error -prone at the back and struggled to finish off chances that they created. They have won just one pre season game and have conceded 12 times in five games. A season opener against Manchester City looms large for them. Ultimately, Chelsea clearly have lots of work to do under new head coach Enzo Maresca to become a serious contender for Europe in the Premier League.

Real Madrid Player Ratings vs Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois—6/10. Only needed to make 1 save in the 45 minutes he played. Didn’t break a sweat throughout.
Lucas Vazquez—8/10. Top outing from the veteran. Really dominated his wing and even attacked very well. Good enough back up for Dani Carvajal.
Eder Militao —7/10. Much better today than against Barcelona in the previous game. Was a little bit too much for young Marc Guiu.
Antonio Rudiger — 7/10. Decent, comfortable outing for the German. Showed his passing range multiple times.
Fran Garcia— 3/10. Once again, quite a poor outing for Fran. Looks a bit lost at the moment. Not a great pre season for him.
Mario Martin—6/10. Has been trusted a lot by Carlo Ancelotti in pre season. Remains to be seen if he gets first team minutes.
Luka Modric—7/10. Shouldered much of the progression from deep. Could he be taking on the Toni Kroos role this season?
Dani Ceballos— 7/10. Decent outing for him, ended up on the scoresheet by tapping in a shot that was already going in.
Brahim Diaz—9/10. Excellent match for Brahim. Looked very sharp and got himself a goal and an assist. A top quality backup player for Real.
Vinicius Jr — 8/10. Once again, the final product was missing a little bit, but he gave Reece James plenty of problems all night. Picked up a lovely assist.
Rodrygo — 5/10. Looked a little bit lost in comparison to his fellow attackers.
Substitutions:
Andriy Lunin—7/10. Was linked to Chelsea earlier this window. Picked up a booking.
Raul Asencio —6/10. Nothing particularly of note, made a good tackle on Mudryk.
Nico Paz—8/10. Really bright outing for him again. He’s ready for senior football.
Juanmi Latasa —6/10. Looked bright in the minutes he played, almost certainly leaving.
Obrador—6/10. Nothing much to talk about, didn’t have enough minutes to impact the game
Jacobo Ramon —6/10. Nothing much to talk about, didn’t have enough minutes to impact the game.
Lorenzo Aguado – 6/10. Nothing much to talk about, didn’t have enough minutes to impact the game.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Real Madrid
Filip Jorgensen – 4/10. Looked a little shaky in his first appearance. Only made a single save.
Malo Gusto – 7/10. Shone despite playing on his weaker side. Could be a very important player for Chelsea this campaign.
Benoit Badiashile – 5/10. Looked below par. It hasn’t quite clicked for him at Chelsea.
Levi Colwill – 5/10. Poor marking, needs to be doing a lot more to justify the talent he has.
Reece James – 5/10. Not great, Vinicius gave him plenty of trouble. Didn’t seem to be matching the Brazilian physically.
Romeo Lavia – 7/10. Chelsea’s best player this pre season and will have a huge role in the side.
Enzo Fernandez – 7/10. Played freely and picked up a nice assist.
Christopher Nkunku– 5/10. A below par outing. Nkunku will be going into the season with great expectations but pre season hasn’t been that great.
Raheem Sterling – 5/10. Simply needs to do more for a player of his quality and experience.
Noni Madueke – 8/10. Took his goal well and very bright in general. Should play more of a role this season.
Marc Guiu – 6/10. Good movement and intelligent all round play. Kept well in check by Real though.
Substitutions:
Mykhailo Mudryk – 5/10. Looked unremarkable again. Needs to step up big time.
Moises Caicedo – 6/10. Kept things ticking after coming on.
Wesley Fofana – 6/10. Came on late for a few minutes, couldn’t do much.
Kieran Dewsbury-Hall – 6/10. Pretty much the same as Fofana. Came on late for a few minutes without the possibility of making an impact.
