Real Madrid target Kimmich showing interest in joining Barcelona

Real Madrid has sights on two potential free transfers for summer 2025 from Bayern Munich.

Los Blancos’ interest in Alphonso Davies has been a long story by itself and they are well poised to seal the deal with the Canadian once his contract expires next year.

As per recent updates, Real Madrid have also had their eyes on Joshua Kimmich – another Bavarian star with less than 12 months left with the German giants.

With Toni Kroos hanging his boots last summer and Luka Modric’s contract ending in the coming year, a need for a new top midfielder is the mandate at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona has an off-pitch clash with arch-rivals Real Madrid to sign Kimmich, however, the German leads towards the Catalan side.

Barça scout Bojan Krkic Sr. spoke about the 29-year-old’s interest in a move to the Catalan rather than a Madrid one.

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo he said: “Joshua Kimmich wants to come to Barça.”

The former scout also added that many German and French greats aspire to play for Barcelona despite their financial struggles.

Great German and French players, when you ask where they want to play, generally say Barça. Madrid also appears, but in general, the footballer wants to play for Barça, for their history, for the club, for their greatness and they don’t go into the economic problems” he explained.

Bayern refuses to back down. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are holding on strong to their hopes of holding onto Kimmich beyond this season.

The Bavarian president, Herbert Hainer, hopes to keep the midfielder for the long term and spend the rest of his career at the Allianz Arena.

I would be happy if he finished his career at Bayern. But not next year, but many, many years later,” he said.

Time will only tell if Real Madrid is serious about their interest in Kimmich or if they are on the lookout for other alternatives.
