Real Madrid star Bellingham injures right leg; to return in September
The forward is set to miss a couple of games for club and country…
Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham has reportedly been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis injury in his right leg and is now set for a spell on the sidelines. Journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the news on X and further wrote that he would only return after the international break next month.
The Englishman had started in both their official games so far this season, even assisting Kylian Mbappe for their second goal in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup last week. But now, a knock to his leg means he will miss the next few games for Los Blancos.
This includes Real Valladolid, Las Palmas and Real Betis clashes, their next three games before the international break. Bellingham will also miss England’s UEFA Nations League games against Ireland and Finland, as Three Lions take to the field for the first time since Euro 2024 final loss.
Bellingham had a memorable debut season with Real Madrid, scoring 23 goals in 42 appearances, including 19 in 28 La Liga games, as they romped to La Liga and Champions League double, preceded by the Spanish Supercup win too. Besides scoring, the 21-year-old is also adept at assisting, registering 14 since joining the side last year.
Real Madrid begin La Liga title defense with a whimper
Real Madrid began their defense of the La Liga crown with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Mallorca last weekend. Rodrygo put the side in front after just 13 minutes into the kick-off, but Vedat Muriqi equalized for the Pirates shortly into the second half. The Spanish champions huffed and puffed in search of a winner but couldn’t break down a sturdy Mallorca side and settled for a share of the spoils.
