Real Madrid surpassed Manchester City as the highest revenue-generating club

Spanish giants, Real Madrid have surpassed Manchester City and topped in Deloitte Football Money League as the world’s largest revenue-generating club. Remember, there was a time when Real Madrid ruled the football money league. Those days are back!

After five years, the Spanish giants snatched the top spot in the Deloitte Football Money League, the ranking of the richest clubs in the world. They raked in a whopping 831 million euros, beating out Manchester City (826 million euros) and Paris Saint-Germain (802 million euros).

But hey, it wasn’t just Real celebrating. The whole football world enjoyed a big cash gain! All the top 20 clubs earned 10.5 billion euros combined, which is 14% more than last year and even beats pre-pandemic levels. Sounds like everyone’s wallets are getting fatter.

So, how did Real do it? They got smarter with their business, selling more shirts and stuff (retail boom!), packing the Santiago Bernabéu stadium (more fans, more money!), and getting sponsors back on board (welcome back, sponsors!).

City might have lost the top spot, but they’re still doing pretty well. Winning the treble (Champions League, Premier League, League Cup) last year helped them reach their highest-ever revenue. Not too shabby!

Broadcast deals, where TV networks pay to show the games, weren’t quite as exciting this year. They only grew by 5%, so clubs gotta look elsewhere for big bucks. That’s why things like selling jerseys and tickets are becoming even more important.
