BLR-W vs GJ-W Head to Head Record

The head-to-head record between both these teams is in favor of RCB over the past couple of seasons. Both these teams have met five times in the history of WPL and out of those five occasions, RCB have come out as the winners on three of them while GG have won two out of the five matches played against RCB.

Most recently, both these teams kicked off this season with a match against each other on the opening night in Baroda and it was a historic night as RCB went on to register the highest successful chase in WPL history in what was a stunning comeback powered by Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja’s heroics with the bat. The tables have turned this time and RCB will now play hosts to GG who will hope to return the favor. Will RCB extend their dominance or will GG draw level?

RCB-W vs GJ-W Pitch Report & Weather Conditions

High-scoring venue

Chinnaswamy is traditionally known for fours and sixes and the batters tend to have a gala time whenever there is action here. Short boundaries, fast outfield, and a true batting wicket are a batter’s friend and Chinnaswamy has them all.

Dew Factor

Generally, one can expect dew to set in during the second half of the match and if that happens it could be tough work for the side bowling second. In the five matches played so far in this year’s WPL at this venue, there has been dew but not very significant.

Average 1st Innings Score

The average first innings score in the 15 WPL matches played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is 154.

RCB-W vs GJ-W Match Prediction: Probable Playing 11s

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women Probable Playing 11

Smriti Mandhana (C), Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, Ellyse Perry, Raghvi Bist, Richa Ghosh (WK), Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham, Kim Garth, Sneh Rana, Ekta Bisht, Renuka Singh Thakur

RCB included off-spinner Sneh Rana in their previous match on the expense of young pacer Joshitha VJ as Perry was available to bowl her medium pacers. Rana was their best bowler picking up 3 wickets against UPW and if Perry continues to be available they are expected to go in unchanged.

Gujarat Giants Women Probable Playing 11

Beth Mooney (WK), Harleen Deol, Phoebe Litchfield, Ashleigh Gardner (C), Deandra Dottin, Simran Shaikh, Tanuja Kanwar, Bharti Fulmali, Kashvee Gautam, Meghna Singh/Sayali Satghare, Priya Mishra

GG made some wholesale changes in their previous match including dropping the star South African batter Laura Wolvaardt for Phoebe Litchfield and they also changed their batting order. Only Bharti Fulmali was able to make an impact on their changes. Litchfield could hang on to her spot while Meghna Singh might make way for Sayali Satghare whom she replaced or they could go for another left-field choice in Shabnam Shakil.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women

Having done a lot of things right, defending champions RCB still find themselves in the middle of the points table, at the third spot. Their home leg has not gone the way they would have liked or planned and they have lost both their matches since the action has moved to Bengaluru. While they were slightly under par with the bat against MI and were undone by the Kaur’s (Harmanpreet and Amanjot), they faltered at the death against UPW and had the game snatched away from them by a Sophie Ecclestone masterclass in the first-ever Super Over in the history of WPL.

Ellyse Perry has been the standout for them by miles and the Australian superstar is having a dream run having scored 235 runs in 4 innings so far striking at 161. She has had decent support from the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge and Richa Ghosh at different times. They have the purple-cap holder with them in Renuka Singh Thakur who has picked up 7 wickets in 4 games while Georgia Wareham has also matched her with as many wickets in as many games.

So, where is the problem? The problem, not very large, has been with their execution at crunch moments. Twice it two games, they have faltered at the death with the ball and have given matches away that they could and should have won.

Gujarat Giants Women

Having lost 3 out the 4 games played this season, Gujarat Giants find themselves at the bottom of the points table underneath all the other teams and are slowly entering into the do-or-die zone. It would also be fair to say that this is their last chance to have their fortunes under their own controls or else they will be in the territory of depending on other results and that is certainly not a place where a team likes to lurk.

Having no bowlers in the top-10 wicket takers of the season and just two in the top-15 leading run-getters is a testimony of the fact that the Giants have been lacking in pretty much all facets of the game. Scores of 120 and 127 batting first have not helped matters for them in the last couple of matches while the lack of a quality strike bowler has hurt them so far in the competition.

Ashleigh Gardner has been the frontrunner for them with 144 runs and 5 wickets in the season so far. She has not got enough support from the batters as well as the bowlers too. Beth Mooney’s sub-standard outputs have hampered them while Dottin has been blowing hot and cold through the season and so has been leg-spinner Priya Mishra on whom they banked their hopes. Young Kashvee Gautam has been a positive for them with both bat and ball while Harleen Deol has been decent too.

All in all, they need to perform as a unit and not depend on one or two individuals to do it for them or their dreams of reaching a playoff would remain a dream for the third straight season running.

RCB-W vs GUJ-W Toss Prediction: GG to win and bowl first

The toss is going to be a huge factor in this match. The conditions and track record at Chinnaswamy shout at the top of their voices for the skippers to win the toss and chase and that has been the norm so far with every captain opting to chase with the dew around, 3 of them have been successful too.

More so for these two teams, both RCB and GG have won the matches in which they have bowled first and have lost the matches in which they have been asked to bat first. The captain winning the toss could have a big advantage today.

Our prediction is that Gujarat Giants will win the toss and will have a bowl first.

RCB-W vs GUJ-W Score Prediction

Considering the average first-innings score of 154 overall and 159 in this season plus the fact that both these teams have many high-quality international batters in their line-ups, a first-innings score of around 170-180 could be expected in the match.

RCB-W vs GG-W Players to Perform Prediction

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women

  1. Ellyse Perry – She is in the form of her life and is plundering runs for fun. Last time when both these teams met, she scored a 34-ball 57 in the 202 run-chase and has 155 runs against Gujarat Giants with an average of nearly 52. She has three fifties in her last four innings including het two highest scores in WPL of 90* and 81.
  2. Sneh Rana – Once a Gujarat Giants skipper, Rana now finds herself in the RCB camp and she would be raring to go against her ex-franchise. She was not even picked up in the auction and was later brought into RCB as a replacement for Shreyanaka Patil, she has a point to prove and what better way to prove it then with a performance against your ex-team? She picked up 3 wickets in the previous match too.
  3. Renuka Singh Thakur – Currently the owner of the Purple Cap, Renuka had impressive figures of 2/25 in her last outing against GG. She has picked up 5 wickets in 4 games against GG to with a player-of-the-match award in the league stage in 2024.

Gujarat Giants Women

  1. Beth Mooney – Someone who needs runs for Gujarat Giants is the Australian keeper-batter Beth Mooney at the top of the order. RCB might be a perfect opposition for Mooney to get back into runs having scored 149 runs in 3 innings against them with an average of 74.5. Her last substantial innings also came against RCB in the season opener when she scored 56.
  2. Ashleigh Gardner – The dynamic Australian all-rounder captaining Gujarat Giants is the most important cog in the wheel for them. For Giants to do well, it is almost imperative that she does well. She would hope to put out something like what she did the last time they faced RCB, Gardner made her captaincy debut and hammered 79 runs off 37 balls along with picking up both the RCB openers with the ball. She has a magnificent record against Smriti Mandhana.
  3. Deandra Dottin – The powerful West-Indian all-rounder can be a match winner on her own on her day, both with the bat and the ball. She has had a mixed bag this season and needs to put in a big performance to remind everyone of her prowess.
