IPL has been the stage for many cricketers who have gained light from this competition on the international stage. Over the years it has given rise to many superstars. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the sides that have the biggest fan following in the competition. They have always been known for their batting line-up, and their highest score is proof of their potential. It has been the side full of superstar cricketers but has failed to win the competition once. They are the only side to qualify for the final three times and not get their hands on the silverware even once.

Till 2024, they had the highest-ever total in the IPL, but it was broken by Sunrisers Hyderabad against them who scored 287/3.

This was the do-or-die match for both teams to qualify for the playoffs. Coming to this match RCB had won all their last matches and could not afford to lose this match to qualify for the playoffs. Batting first RCB got off to a flying start with their openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis giving them the momentum in the powerplay. Then the quick-fire innings by the middle order batters help them post a big total of 218 runs for 5 wickets.

CSK while chasing were never in the game as they lost wickets at regular intervals. However, there was a twist at the last when Ravindra Jadeja played a knock of 42 off 22 deliveries changing the gears for the Yellow Army. But the star all-rounder could not take his team par the score when 10 was required of just two deliveries as Yash Dayal sealed the game for his side.

RCB once again batting first did not have the start they wanted and lost both their openers early. But AB de Villiers had other ideas, along with Moeen Ali stitched a partnership of 107 runs for the third wicket with both batters scoring half-centuries. The Proteas scored 69 runs 39 balls and Moeen scored 65 off 34 deliveries posting a mammoth total of 218/6.

SRH coming out to chase did not have the momentum to go. But Kane Williamson tried his best as he scored 81 off 42 deliveries to help his side to near the score but after his wicket, the team fell short by just 14 runs. Manish Pandey also played a knock of 62 runs off 38 balls but all went in vain when 20 runs were required in the last over.

8. RCB vs KKR | RCB 221/10 vs KKR | 2024

This was one of the best KKR vs RCB matches. It has always been an intense rivalry between these sides. Last year when these sides met at the Eden Gardens it was a high-scoring affair. KKR after being invited to bat first got off to a flying start with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine reaching the 50 mark in just 4 overs. But quick wickets in the middle led them to only score 222/6.

Coming out to chase RCB openers were back in the pavilion before the powerplay ended. But Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar’s quick-fire half-centuries helped RCB to stay in the fight. However, the side fell just short of one run as they were bowled out for 221 runs in the final ball of the game with Mitchell Starc holding his nerve in the final over.

Punjab after winning the toss invited RCB to bat first. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli gave their side a fiery start. They were 68/0 in the powerplay. Gayle was the aggressor between the two. The big Jamaican cricketer played a knock of 117 runs off 57 deliveries and AB de Villiers’s 47 off 24 helped RCB to post a total of 226 runs in their 20 overs.

Coming out to chase Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) were never in the game. They kept on losing wickets and thus failing to secure the 100 run mark as Kings were bowled out for just 88 runs, Mitchell Starc and Sreenath Arvind picking up 4 wickets each for the side and demolishing the star-studded Punjab batting lineup and they won the match by 138 runs.

It was the group stage match between the two sides. RCB after being invited to bat first lost Chris Gayle early. But a 157-run partnership between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers helped the side to post a massive 227 runs on the board. Kohli scored 75 off 51 balls and the former South African played a blistering knock of 82 off 42 deliveries.

SRH kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and only one batter David Warner could only score a half century and no other batter could reach the 40-run mark. Thus they could only score 182 runs and were handed a defeat by 45 runs. De Villiers was named the man of the match for his exceptional innings in the game.

They stitched a partnership of 215 runs for the second wicket. It was then the highest-ever partnership for the second wicket in an IPL. The latter played a knock of 133 runs off 59 balls and then the captain scored 82 off 50 deliveries posting a total of 235/1.

Mumbai Indians did not have the start they wanted only Lendl Simmons could score a half-century. The Windies opener scored 68 runs and except for him, Kieron Pollard was the second-highest scorer with a score of 49 runs except for them no other batters could cross the 20 runs mark. The five-time champions could only score 196/7 losing the match by 39 runs.

Virat Kohli’ 92 off 47 balls and quick-fire innings from Rajat Patidar and Cameroon Green helped RCB to post a huge total of 241 runs. The Patidar scored 55 off 23 and the Aussie all-rounder scored 46 off 27.

Coming out to chase PBKS had the start to get going. Rilee Russouw scored 61 off 27 balls and Shashank Singh scored 37 off 19 balls and they were 100 up in just 8 overs. But they kept on losing wickets and failed to reach the target and even play their full 20 overs. The Kings were bundled out for just 181 runs in 17 overs. Handing RCB their fourth consecutive win in 2024.

RCB coming out to bat did not have the best start as they were 42/1 in the powerplay. Nobody would have thought of them going the 200+ mark in their 20 overs. But Kohli and de Villiers stepped up big on this occasion. They stitched a partnership of 229 runs for the second wicket breaking their own 215 runs partnership. It is the highest second-wicket partnership in the league. Both batters scored centuries, Kohli scored 109 off 55 and the Proteas batter scored 129 runs off 52 balls.

Gujarat Lions were never in the game after such a huge total. They kept on losing the wickets and 8 batters were back in the pavilion with single-digit scores and no batter could score a half-century in the innings. This resulted in a heavy defeat as they were bowled out for just 104 runs. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for RCB picking 4 wickets in the match.

This match saw 549 runs being scored in two innings of a T20 game. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium saw 42 sixes being hit in this match with both teams scoring nearly 300 runs. Chasing a target of 287 runs RCB were off to a flyer as they scored 80 runs in just 6 overs. But in the middle overs, they lost two quick wickets shifting the momentum to SRH’s favour.

Dinesh Karthik’s 83 off 35 balls went in vain as the wicket-keeper batter did not get any support from the other middle-order batters. In reply, PWI were all lost, and the batting lineup collapsed. Only one batter could go past the score of 30 with Steven Smith scoring 41 runs off 31 balls rest all the batting lineup scored in single digits. They could only score 133/9 in their 20 overs resulting in a 130-run win for RCB over PWI. Gayle was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his blistering knock.
