Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane is in talks with MLS side Inter Miami
Former Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has announced his departure from Manchester United back in May. The Frenchman confirmed he will not renew his contract and will leave the club as a free agent once his contract expires in June.
Varane played a vital role in Erik ten Hag’s first trophy as a Man United manager, the Carabao Cup, back in 2023. He also played a crucial role in the 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City in their FA Cup triumph at Wembley last month.
The decorated center-back arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 after winning four Champions League trophies with Real Madrid. Since then, Varane has made 95 appearances for the club and won two trophies.
Raphaël Varane linked with a move to Inter Miami
The Frenchman decided not to renew his contract with the Premier League outfit despite earning the manager’s trust over the last few seasons. Varane has endured a mixed three-year stint, scoring two goals in the process.
Varane was sidelined with a muscle injury since United’s 4-3 loss at Chelsea but played a crucial role in United’s final game of the season against Manchester City. He has been recently linked with a move to MLS side Inter Miami which was found by David Beckham six years ago.
Inter Miami have added a number of superstars over the past few years and boasts a lineup of La Liga legends Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez in their roster.
Signing Varane this summer would bring a wealth of experience to the Herons’ backline but he would have to take a pay cut in order to sanction his move to the MLS.
