Rangers FC vs Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings – Spurs falter again as both teams settle for a draw

Rangers FC vs Tottenham Hotspur was all set to be a mouth watering all British face-off, with both teams having a similar record in the group, Rangers currently sitting on top of Tottenham Hotspur by goal difference, the additional factor of an ex-Celtic manager coming to the Ibrox added a spicy flavour to an already yummy matchup. In the home dugout, Rangers boss Phillipe Clement has gone with a strong side while Ange Postecoglou has made five changes to his Tottenham Hotspur side at Ibrox on Thursday night in the Europa League.

Both sides had a good go at each other in the first half, creating chances and troubling the goalkeepers. But it was mostly Rangers who surprisingly dominated the visitors, suffocating Forster with multiple attacks. Despite all of that, the scorecard did not move, and that led to the match being level at half-time.

Rangers hit the ground running very early, as Hamza Igamane fires one in from a ever attacking James Tavernier’s assist. Spurs woke up and found their rhythm as Kulusevski equalised from a tidy move from the team. Forster then pulled off one of the saves of the season to deny Dessers and Solanke on the other end missed one of the easiest chances ever. All in all, it was an even contest and both teams will be regretting the missed chances that they’ve made.

Goalkeeper

Butland: 8/10 – A magnificent display from the Englishman, denying Tottenham multiple times and keeping Rangers in the game.

Defenders

Tavernier: 7.5/10 – The captain was attacking on the right flank effectively as usual, and got rewarded with an assist for their opener.

Souttar: 5/10 – The defender could not make a big impact as he got subbed off in the first half itself because of an injury.

Propper: 6.5/10 – A quiet but effective performance, keeping the opposition at bay with his calm demeanour.

Yilmaz: 6/10 – An energetic display but lacked consistency to make a continued impact.

Midfielders

Goalkeeper

Forster: 7/10 – The former Celtic man made some vital saves to keep Tottenham in the game. He was not at fault for conceding the first goal.

Defenders

Porro: 7/10 – A good display from the Spaniard, contributing effectively on both defense and attack.

Gray: 7.5/10 – A tremendous display from the teenager, filling in at an unfamiliar role and carried on like it was not a big deal.

Dragusin: 6/10 – Another average performance from the centreback, as he struggled to keep up with his team and the intensity of the opposition.

Udogie: 6/10 – An ineffective performance on the offense, not making enough contributions.

Midfielders

Bissouma: 6/10 – A disappointing night for him, as he failed to dictate the tone like he usually does.

Maddison: 7/10 – He had some clever ideas to make Spurs score but failed in the execution process. A decent creative display.

Forwards

Werner: 4/10 – A disappointing night again for the German, as he blazed multiple shots over the bar and got subbed off after the end of the first half.

Son: 6.5/10 – It was not a good performance for his standards, as Son failed to score despite having some moments of brilliance.

Johnson: 5/10 – Wasteful with the chances that he got and was subbed off rightfully.

Substitutes

Kulusevski: 8/10

Solanke: 6/10

Sarr: 6/10

Bergvall: 5/10

Manager

Ange Postecoglou: 6/10 – The former Celtic manager introduced a rotated side in his familiar hunting ground, but his side struggled for the majority part of the game. His substitutions brought some life back but all in all, it was a game that this team should have won comfortably.
