PSV Eindhoven 3-2 Liverpool Player Ratings – Goals galore in Eindhoven as the hosts shock the table toppers

PSV Eindhoven finished the group stage campaign with a fantastic win over table-toppers Liverpool and sealed a play-off spot in the Champions League. The visitors will not be too fussed about the result, as this game did not change their position at the table as other results were in their favour.

Both sides, especially the visitors rotated heavily for their final game. The game started a bit passively, with both teams not creating any concrete chances. But the visitors got a golden chance to get into lead as Veerman fouled Chiesa in the box and the penalty was converted by Gakpo. The hosts pulled one back as Bakayoko sat down Robertson and Quansah before curling the ball into the bottom left-hand corner. Liverpool did not take too long to get back in front when Chiesa fired one from distance, which was saved by the keeper but Elliott was present to score the spilled ball. The score levelled again, thanks to a good finish at the near post from Saibari. The hosts surprisingly completed a turnaround when Pepi brilliantly flicked beyond Kelleher.

The intensity of the first half faded away as both teams were not creating chances at the same level. While the hosts focused to retain the lead, the visitors were looking to end the campaign undefeated. While both teams made changes, it did not affect the game as much as they would have expected. Any hopes to win the game were gone when the youngster Nallo, three minutes into his debut, got sent off.
