Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Toulouse Player Ratings as Les Parisiens secure all three points with three dazzling goals
As club football once again gets underway, league giants Paris Saint-Germain pick up where they left off, soaring high atop the Ligue 1 table. Welcoming the in-form Toulouse, PSG fielded a much-changed side, with some starters missing out due to injury and illness. As such, it allowed for some interesting names to notch a start. As for Toulouse, the visitors came into the match with a three-game win streak and started the game with the intention to keep it going.
That said, PSG showed exactly why they are the current league leaders and dominated the early proceedings as expected, notching up a wondergoal for their efforts. Whilst a big chunk of the second half saw Toulouse put up a fight and maybe even have a chance of clawing back into the game, it was all undone after Beraldo added a second for the Parisiens and Vitinha rounded off a brilliant play for the third.
All in all, the game made for an exciting watch and well rewarding for fans at the stadium and abroad. Whilst Toulouse will look to gather themselves and learn from their defensive lapses, PSG will have that extra spring in their step as they look ahead to a big Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in midweek.
Paris Saint-Germain Player Ratings vs Toulouse
Goalkeeper
Matvey Safonov: 7/10- Despite a mostly in-control game, Safonov did well in his rare start, showing good awareness to come for the ball and at times get a touch on it to keep it away from danger. Was not bad with the ball at his feet either and never really looked out of place.
Defenders
Yoram Zague: 6.5/10- A rare start for the youngster who found himself in possession numerous times very early on. Exuded a calm presence and did not have trouble playing out from the back when needed, despite the Toulouse press. Hardly put a foot wrong for a big part of the game.
Lucas Beraldo: 7.5/10- Solid at the back and tidy in possession. Forced a save out of the Toulouse keeper early on in the game. Stepped in to make a few vital interceptions as well and was confident in stepping out of the backline, which saw him score a cracking goal too.
Milan Škriniar: 7.5/10- Brilliant in defense and quite secure with the ball at his feet. Was a strong, calming presence at the back, stepping in whenever things seemed to be getting out of control. Did well to make a case for himself as a regular starter once again.
Achraf Hakimi: 8/10- Was the more aggressive and adventurous of the two fullbacks. Ensured to get back into position after any attack and did his best to supplement his side going forward. Had a few sweet deliveries into the box along with the assist for the first goal and marshaled his side well.
Midfielders
Warren Zaïre-Emery: 6.5/10- Quite active and willing from the get-go, but lacked the required sharpness in the key moments, leading to uncharacteristic missed touches and a few overhit passes. Managed to get into good spots in and around the box but couldn’t quite make it happen on the night.
João Neves: 7.5/10- Was the lynchpin and pulling the strings in the middle of the park for PSG. Rotated possession quite handily and helped maintain a solid tempo for his side. Expertly picked out his goal with a delectable long-range snooker-like shot from outside the box.
Marco Asensio: 6/10- Busy and active at the start but began drifting in and out of the game from thereon. Popped up in a number of different positions across the middle and front line to try and influence the game, but was unable to.
Attackers
Ousmane Dembélé: 7/10- Saw a lot of the ball for his side and had a few nice dribbles. Did not particularly look to create as much try and set up for a shot himself. Made a few crisp passes into the box but overall held on to the ball for too long in a few instances.
Désiré Doué: 6.5/10- Popped up across a number of different positions across the front line, often switching places with Asensio. Got on the ball a fair few times, but struggled to have the incisiveness needed to break down the packed Toulouse defense.
Bradley Barcola: 6.5/10- Was given the license to hold the width and then pop up near goalmouth to try and get on the end of a cross or a deflection. Did well to create chances for himself and threatened the Toulouse backline with his pace. Despite opportunities, was unable to get through and truly make his mark.
Substitutes
Vitinha: 7.5/10- Came into the heart of midfield at the start of the second half. Showed up for the ball and progressed it seamlessly from back to front. Summarised his playstyle with an excellent goal which he initiated himself deep in his own half, before finding himself skillfully slotting it past the keeper at the other end.
Lee Kang-in: 6.5/10- Had a few neat touches and passes and managed to fit in pretty well in every position he played, shifted from midfield and across the frontline. An alright cameo with glimpses of some real talent from the South Korean.
Fabian Ruiz: 6/10- Composed in the advanced midfield position, found himself in good positions to pick up the ball and try and make a play. Did exactly as he was asked and managed to find the attackers well, popping up in good positions himself as well.
Randal Kolo Muani: 6/10- Despite the usual few clumsy touches from him, showed some good dribbling skills on the left and the ability to pick out a good pass like he did with the assist for Vitinha. Struggling to break into the starting 11 for a reason and will need to keep working hard to change that.
Manager
Luis Enrique: 8/10- Set up his side to dominate the ball and after the first half was prompt in making changes and trying to retain even more of the ball. Although confusing at times, managed to make sense of his substitutions and formations, which all things considered, worked an absolute treat.

Goalkeeper
Guillaume Restes: 6.5/10- Was mostly able to deal with anything thrown at him, making a few big saves from time to time. Must have felt really unlucky with the first goal and let down by his teammates for the second, but can still hold his head high for what was not a bad performance by any means.
Defenders
Mark McKenzie: 5.5/10- Extremely poor and quite easily dealt with by Barcola and Co. Struggled to keep pace with the PSG attackers and was a clear liability at the back. Was promptly hooked by the manager early into the second just as his side seemed to show signs of life.
Charlie Cresswell: 6.5/10- The clear leader at the back for Toulouse but unable really to put up a solid account for himself, struggling to keep up with the PSG attackers, despite his brutish approach to the game. Was not particularly exceptional in possession either.
Ümit Akdağ: 7/10- Solid throughout, doing well to hold his line and not get caught out. Was mostly unruffled and hard to get by for the PSG attackers, and looked the best out of a bad bunch at the back on the night.
Midfielders
Aron Dønnum: 6.5/10- An all-round performance for the player who was shifted from wing back to defense in the second half to try and make up for his side’s defensive frailties. Looked up for the contest and managed to keep pace with the PSG attackers, something that a lot of his teammates were unable to do.
Vincent Sierro: 6.5/10: Made things happen for his side from the middle of the park, either going on a run or spraying out a long ball which almost always found a teammate. Despite his ability to do well with the longer-ranged passes, surprisingly fumbled a few easy short-range passes at times,
Cristian Cásseres Jr.: 6/10- Was drowned out in the midfield, failed to get a foothold into the game, and was more often going backward than front. Showed little inventiveness or desire to push forward but was decent defensively.
Warren Kamanzi: 6.5/10- Looked like one of the few Toulouse up for the big game. Was up and down the channels and was resolute in defense too. Got stuck in and was one of the only players who seemed comfortable in possession and under pressure.
Attackers
Zakaria Aboukhlal: 6/10- Lively and had one of the best chances his side saw all game, but was unable to get it off in time. Showed some good movement and ball carrying, taking some shots but found nothing of note.
Yann Gboho: 6.5/10- Ran himself ragged trying to drag the opposition further up the field. Tried his hardest to try and trouble the PSG defense but was often drowned out by a crowd of defenders. Was unlucky to have little to no support going forward as well.
Joshua King: 5/10- Had a torrid time up top, barely getting involved and even getting on the ball for that matter. Did have the opportunity to nab a goal for his side but did not have the quality to do so. Looked shocking by his standards especially considering his performances last month.
Substitutes
Shavy Warren Babicka: 6.5/10 – Missed the best chance his side saw all game, an absolute gift from the gods and a sitter. Partially made up for it, sending a teammate through on goal. Sightly clumsy in possession but did well to barge into the box when he got on the ball.
Frank Magri: 6.5/10- Much more brighter and lively than the striker that started. Showed good movement in and around the box and got close to scoring on a few occasions. Will be looking to make a case for himself as a regular starter soon.
Gabriel Suazo: N/A
Niklas Schmidt: N/A
Jaydee Canvot: N/A
Manager
Carles Martínez: 6.5/10 Came in with a much different game plan but saw his side struggle to retain possession or build out from the back. Will feel hard done by owing to the nature of the goals, especially after his changes seemingly made the side more competitive and in with a shout to get something from the game.
