Premier League Golden Boot Standings as Haaland leads the list
Last year’s winner Erling Haaland has continued his dominance this campaign as he leads the Premier League Golden Boot Standings after matchday 30.
Premier League Golden Boot Standings: Who’s in it to win it?
As the business end of the English Premier League season approaches, the importance of goal scorers cannot be overstated. Goal scorers have once again been in phenomenal form in front of goal and the race for the Premier League golden boot is heating up. Leading the Golden Boot standings, perhaps predictably, is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. His 18 goals have helped City stay in the hunt for the Premier League trophy and have also seen him go clear at the top of the Premier League Golden Boot standings.
However, unlike last season when the striker blasted 36 goals in the league, injuries have slowed down the clinical striker and made the race for the golden boot a closely contested one. Following Erling Haaland in the golden boot standings is Mohamed Salah with 16 goals. The Egyptian in Liverpool has also had a season marred with injuries, but has been in sensational form whenever available.
Salah is tied in 2nd place with Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa and Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth who have 16 goals scored as well. Ollie Watkins has been sensational in front of goal this season and is vying for a spot in the England squad ahead of the Euro 2024. His goals have also been crucial in elevating Villa to 4th place in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Solanke’s performance in goal has helped Bournemouth keep a safe distance from the drop zone all season long.
Son Heung-min was missing for Tottenham earlier this year due to the Asian Cup, but has still managed to score an impressive 15 goals in the English Premier League. His 15 goals have helped Tottenham remain in contention for a Champions League spot next year and ranks him just below Salah, Watkins and Solanke in the Golden Boot standings. The captain has performed extremely well in Tottenham’s first season without prolific striker Harry Kane and continues to earn the respect of fans across the league.
Jarrod Bowen of West Ham has also scored 15 goals in the Premier League, but has played more minutes than the Tottenham captain. The talented forward is also eyeing a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros and his form will certainly offer him a better chance of being selected. Interestingly Bowen has contributed to almost 20% of West Ham’s goals in the league all season, further highlighting his significance to the squad.
Many others are also in the race for the golden boot, but haven’t stood out in recent weeks. Here are the top ten goal scorers in the Premier Golden Boot Standings:
Standings | Name | Goals | Matches Played | Minutes Played | Club |
1 | Erling Haaland | 18 | 24 | 2014 | Man City |
2 | Mohamed Salah | 16 | 23 | 1908 | Liverpool |
3 | Ollie Watkins | 16 | 28 | 2479 | Aston Villa |
4 | Dominic Solanke | 16 | 29 | 2584 | Bournemouth |
5 | Son Heung-min | 15 | 26 | 2170 | Tottenham |
6 | Jarrod Bowen | 15 | 29 | 2606 | West Ham |
7 | Alexander Isak | 14 | 21 | 1500 | Newcastle United |
8 | Cole Palmer | 13 | 24 | 1833 | Chelsea |
9 | Bukayo Saka | 13 | 28 | 2349 | Arsenal |
10 | Phil Foden | 11 | 28 | 2315 | Man City |
For now, Erling Haaland leads the Premier League Golden Boot standings, but the picture could be quite different as the business end of the season approaches. While the Norwegian went goalless in City’s fixture against Arsenal last night, Mo Salah scored a crucial goal against Brighton, further reducing the gap between the two heavyweights. An interesting golden boot race awaits us in the final few matchdays!
