Phil Foden comments on why Man City would be more dangerous after the Champions League exit
Manchester City’s hope to have another treble-winning season got shattered following a defeat in the Champions League quarter final to Real Madrid. The Citizens will now focus on winning two remaining possible titles, the FA Cup and Premier League. City midfielder Phil Foden reveals why his side is more motivated in the rest of the season.
City are on the verge of becoming the first team in Premier League history who won four consecutive titles. Foden is determined to reach that milestone with his childhood team this season.
Phil Foden comments on wanting to do something special with Manchester City
The best consecutive winning records in the Premier League up until this day belong to the two Manchester-based sides, City and United. The Red Devils won in the span of 2007 to 2009 while City has been doing it in the last three seasons.
“We know if we win the Premier League this time we will have done something new,” Foden said via Mail Online. “It’s something we have our eyes on. Every time we put our boots on at the training ground that saying is there on the wall. It says: “Nobody has won four Premier Leagues in a row…yet.
“We want to put ourselves in history. Every day I sit and look at that slogan and I think: ‘Why not?’.”
Foden added that he is confident with City’s current squad. However, the father of Ronnie does not want to be overconfident about the odds, saying that he would at least try to win it.
“That doesn’t mean we are going to do it but I am pretty sure we will be there until the end because I know them, I see their faces in the meetings before games and how they prepare. That means we’ll be Premier League champions? No, no. I am not saying that. But we will compete, that is for sure.”
