PSG 0-1 Liverpool Player Ratings: Harvey Elliott’s Late Strike & Alisson’s Heroics Stun PSG as Reds Snatch Dramatic UCL Win

Paris Saint-Germain were left shell-shocked at the Parc des Princes as Harvey Elliott’s stunning late goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League. Despite dominating possession, creating numerous chances, and testing Alisson Becker time and again, PSG failed to break the deadlock, only for Liverpool to strike against the run of play in the dying minutes.

From the opening whistle, PSG stamped their authority on the game, with Luis Enrique’s side displaying an attacking intent that kept Liverpool on the back foot. The French champions relentlessly pushed forward, with Ousmane Dembélé’s trickery on the right wing causing problems for Andrew Robertson. The first big chance of the match fell to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who cut inside and curled a beautiful shot into the top corner, only for VAR to intervene and rule the goal out for offside, leaving the home fans frustrated.

Liverpool, struggling to retain possession, relied on their defensive solidity and the brilliance of Alisson Becker. The hosts were relentless, firing over 20 shots at Alisson’s goal, but the Brazilian goalkeeper produced a world-class performance to keep PSG at bay.

PSG resumed the second half with even greater urgency, determined to find a breakthrough. Kvaratskhelia came close again in the 52nd minute. Désiré Doué, introduced as a second-half substitute, injected fresh energy into PSG’s attack and nearly found the net in the 72nd minute, forcing another heroic save from Alisson.

Just when it seemed like the match was destined to end in a stalemate, Liverpool struck with a moment of brilliance. In the 87th minute, a rare attacking move from the visitors saw Núñez hold off Marquinhos and play a perfectly weighted pass to substitute Harvey Elliott. The young midfielder, showing remarkable composure, unleashed a stunning strike from just outside the box, curling the ball past Donnarumma and into the bottom corner.

The goal sent the travelling Liverpool fans into raptures, while the PSG players looked stunned, realizing that all their dominance had been undone in an instant. Despite a desperate late push, the home side couldn’t find an equalizer.

A heartbreaking night for PSG, who were by far the better side, but Liverpool’s resilience and clinical finishing proved decisive.

GK- Gianluigi Donnarumma- 6/10

Made some good saves but fumbled an Alexander-Arnold cross, almost costing PSG. Wasn’t heavily tested overall but could’ve done better with the Harvey Elliott strike that won Liverpool the game.

RB- Achraf Hakimi- 7.2/10

One of PSG’s best players, constantly pushing forward and creating chances. Had a dangerous shot saved by Alisson and led all defenders in key passes. However, was caught out of position on a couple of occasions.

CB – Marquinhos- 7.8/10

Picked up a yellow card for a reckless challenge and had a tough battle against Jota. Strong defensively but had some nervy moments. However, struggled physically against Núñez late on.

CB – Willian Pacho- 6.8/10

Was decent defensively but had a lapse in concentration leading to Liverpool’s winner. Dealt with Díaz well for most of the game.

LB – Nuno Mendes- 8.3/10

Provided width on the left and was always looking to get forward. Defensively, he had some tough moments but didn’t make any major errors.

CM – Fabián Ruiz- 6.8/10

Had a decent long-range effort but wasn’t dominant in midfield. Played safe passes but didn’t have a major impact, was substituted late in the game.

CM – Vitinha- 8/10

One of PSG’s best performers. Dictated the tempo and was involved in numerous attacking sequences. Created chances but lacked the final pass.

CM – Joao Neves- 7.2/10

Kept things ticking in midfield and was involved in PSG’s build-up play. However, was outmuscled in key moments.

RW- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia- 7.5/10

Looked dangerous every time he had the ball. Scored a brilliant goal that was ruled out for offside. His dribbling caused problems, and he was substituted in the second half.

LW- Bradley Barcola- 7.6/10

A real handful for Liverpool’s defence. Though he won a penalty, but was denied by VAR. Faded slightly in the second half before being substituted.

ST- Ousmane Dembélé- 7.5/10

A lively presence throughout. Created numerous chances, tested Alisson multiple times, and was PSG’s biggest threat. However, his finishing let him down.

SUB- Désiré Doué- 6.5/10

Added fresh legs but couldn’t find a breakthrough, and saw his late effort saved by Alisson.

SUB- Warren Zaire-Emery- 6/10

Came on to shore up the midfield but didn’t influence the game much.

SUB- Goncalo Ramos- 6/10

A late introduction but didn’t have an impact.

Manager- Luis Enriqe- 6.5/10

Luis Enrique’s team showcased great control and real intent moving forward constantly threatening the Liverpool defence and dominating the game, but poor finishing and inspired goalkeeping from Alisson cost them. His substitutions didn’t have the desired effect, and PSG were ultimately punished for their wastefulness.

GK – Alisson Becker – 9.5/10

The Brazilian shot-stopper was in sensational form, making 10 crucial saves to keep Liverpool in the game. Denied Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, and Hakimi on numerous occasions. A heroic performance. His reflexes were outstanding, ensuring PSG didn’t take the lead. A proper Man of the Match performance by the Brazilian.

RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

A mixed performance from the right-back. Provided some attacking intent but was often exposed defensively, allowing Hakimi too much space to cross. His positioning was questionable at times.

CB – Ibrahima Konate – 6.5/10

Battled hard against PSG’s attacking players but had moments of uncertainty, particularly struggling against Barcola’s direct running. Made some key clearances but also gave away a soft foul that led to a dangerous PSG set-piece.

CB – Virgil van Dijk – 7/10

Not at his imperious best. Picked up a yellow card for time-wasting and looked slightly shaky under pressure. Still, his leadership at the back helped Liverpool hold on during PSG’s relentless attacks.

LB – Andrew Robertson – 7.3/10

Defensively solid in patches but struggled against Dembele’s pace. His overlapping runs were rare, and he didn’t contribute much going forward.

CM – Ryan Gravenberch – 7.2/10

Found it difficult to impose himself in the midfield battle and was overrun by PSG’s energetic midfielders. Rightly subbed off in the second half.

CM – Alexis Mac Allister – 7/10

Worked tirelessly in midfield but was often bypassed by PSG’s quick interchanges. His composure helped Liverpool regain control in spells, but he struggled with Dembele’s movement.

RW – Mohamed Salah – 5/10

A rare anonymous performance from Liverpool’s talisman. Had next to no impact before being substituted for Elliott, which proved to be the match-winning moment.

CAM – Dominik Szoboszlai – 7/10

Showed glimpses of quality on the ball but lacked the cutting edge. Played a crucial role in blocking a goal-bound effort but was not as effective creatively.

LW – Luis Diaz – 6.6/10

Provided energy and directness but struggled to get past Marquinhos and Hakimi. Had one half-chance with a glancing header but was otherwise quiet.

ST – Diogo Jota – 7/10

Worked hard but was unable to trouble PSG’s defence. Was involved in a few counter-attacks but lacked the finishing touch.

SUB – Curtis Jones – 6.5/10

Helped Liverpool regain some midfield control in the final stages.

SUB – Darwin Nunez – 6.5

Came on in the second half and added a much-needed physical presence up front and provided the assist for Elliott’s winner.

SUB – Wataru Endo– 6.5/10

Added steel to Liverpool’s midfield but wasn’t involved much.

SUB – Harvey Elliott– 7/10

Came on and made an immediate impact, scoring the winning goal with a well-placed finish in the bottom left corner.

Manager – Arne Slot – 7/10

Liverpool were outplayed for large parts of the game, but Slot’s substitutions, particularly bringing on Elliott and Núñez, proved to be the difference. This was a statement victory, built on defensive solidity and an ability to capitalize on the few opportunities that came their way. Elliott’s winner may not have been in the script, but it underlined Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude in Europe’s elite competition. This was Liverpool’s first win in Paris after 1981.

The Sportsdunia player of the match is Alisson Becker for his goalkeeping heroics.
