OFFICIAL: Barcelona has announced the departure of Sergi Roberto

The Spaniard has confirmed his departure from Camp Nout following his 18-year association with the Catalan giants. The versatile defender saw his contract expire last month and Barcelona will bid a proper farewell this week.

Since joining the famed La Masia Academy at the age of 14, Roberto has made 373 appearances for Barcelona and scored 19 goals in the process. He has won 21 trophies with the Catalan giants since making his professional debut at 18.

A statement read: “Sergi Roberto has made his official departure from the Club where he has spent virtually his entire career, FC Barcelona. The first team captain’s contract came to an end at the conclusion of last season and via an emotional video published on his social media networks he has made his farewell to the Club public.”

The 32-year-old defender has won two Champions League trophies, seven La Liga titles, six Copas del Reys and two FIFA Club World Cups with Barcelona.
