Nottm Forest vs Man United Player Ratings as Casemiro grabs late goal to progress
Nottm Forest vs Man United Summary
Manchester United secured a last-gasp 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the 5th Round of the FA Cup on Wednesday, February 28. They will now face arch-rivals Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
Forest made a brave start to the game and looked to take the game to their opponents. However, United started well too and almost grabbed an early lead as Antony smashed the crossbar in the fourth minute.
Scott McTominay then saw his close-range header parried away by Forest ‘keeper Matt Turner as United maintained the pressure. Turner denied the Scotsman once again at the half-hour mark. Manchester United maintained pressure in the first half but could not open the scoring.
Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi had a great chance to level matters early in the second half. However, his low effort was hit straight at Andre Onana, who made a sharp stop. The hosts were slightly cautious and reserved later in the half, allowing United to pounce and steal the game.
Former Red Devil Anthony Elanga fouled Diogo Dalot on the left flank and conceded a free-kick. Skipper Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take it and delivered a perfect ball towards the near post. Casemiro came steaming in and got enough on his header to take it past Turner to make it 1-0.
