NorthEast United FC 0–0 (4–5 Pen) Jamshedpur FC Player Ratings: Jamshedpur FC Sail past NorthEast in the Penalty Shootout Storming into the Semi Finals
The Durand Cup champions meet the ISL semi-finalists Jamshedpur FC for the last quarter-final of the Kalinga Super Cup 2025, where the winner will face the mighty Mumbai City who earned a hard-fought victory against Inter Kashi earlier in the day.
NorthEast looked sharp as they came into the match after trashing Mohammedan SC with a margin of 6-0. Jamshedpur FC comes into the match with a solid win against Hyderabad FC. But on paper, this was the match that would challenge them in reality. That was what both the gaffers had to say, too.” Last game is the past, and now we have to focus on the next game said Benali in a pre-match presser, and Khalid Jamil exclaimed that his team is ready for everything.
NorthEast fielded themselves in a 4-3-3 setup and Jamshedpur opted the 4-3-2-1 setup. Both teams hence gave a hint that they would focus on keeping possession and move to an all out attack when required. Jamshedpur got the ball rolling and apart from the previous quarter final match which was slow, this match was relatively faster as either of the teams as predicted kept possession and initiated quick counters. The match was surely a game of tactics.
Guillermo was the one to initiate the attacks as he made an on-target shot in the very first minutes to set the tempo for his team. Jamshedpur too came into attack early from the services of Siverio.
Some minutes later, Ajarie took a powerful free kick which touched the fingertips of Albino and changed the direction, and hit the post, which kept the deadlock. Jithin too made some shots which were saved beautifully by Albino. Jamshedpur had the upper edge in the open play while NorthEast were the ones to pounce on the setpieces, along with making counterattacks in quick succession.
The attacks of Jamshedpur, which were initiated by Javi, were shut down by Mayakkannan, who marked him everywhere like a shadow. NorthEast looked more clinical and had the steering wheel of the match, and the only thing that seperated them from scoring was Albino Gomez. At half time, the score remained nil-nil, and there was work to be put in the second half.
The second half began with much vigor, but similar to the first half, both teams were lacking finishing. Ajarie, Murray, and Siverio got chances early, but the defenders were good in the office. But later on, the match slowly transitioned into a slow one and was dominated in the midfield.
Both teams found it hard to go past the defenders and find the back of the net. After the 80-minute mark, both teams played safe and made substitutions to frame a set of players who could take the penalty. Neither of the teams took any risks and chose to decide the fate of the game by penalties. At full time, there was nothing to separate the sides, and the match was to be decided by penalties, where Jamshedpur emerged victorious.
Here are the NorthEast United FC vs Jamshedpur FC Player Ratings.
NorthEast United FC Player Ratings

GK – Gurmeet Singh – 6.5/10
Had a hand in some shots made by Siverio in the first half. Other than that, he did not have much of a role in the first forty-five. Properly held his hands to the header off Murray. Saved the penalty of Murray by diving to the right. Played mind games on Eze that gave his team the lifeline.
LB – Buanthanglun Samte – 5/10
Joined in the attack and made some quick passes, and was a part of some combination play. Other than that, he was rarely involved in the match. Whenever he was involved, the majority of the time, he gifted away possession, which made Ajarie frustrated. Benali was also seen visibly unhappy with the player. He was the first one to be subbed off due to his inability to make any contributions.
CB – Míchel Zabaco – 6/10
He was there to clear the ball and make some interceptions to keep the danger away. Played clever and made some tactical fouls on Siverio whenever he initiated counterattacks. Was key in making some interceptions and tackles for his team. Missed the penalty as the ball went a mile over the post,
CB – Asheer Akhtar– 6/10
Cleared the ball whenever he sensed danger. Was solid in the backline. Made some clearances and won some aerial and ground duels. Closed down the backline along with Zabaco, and this gave freedom to Samte to play a bit higher. Missed the penalty and gave Jamshedpur the win.
RB – Redeem Tlang – 5.5/10
Was silent throughout the match in the defence. Came into attack in the second half but whenever he was involved in some dribbles or duels, he committed fouls which gave the opponents freekick and an opportunity to build up. Had tired legs and tired mind which led to him making off target shots and inaccurate passes.
CM – Mohamed Ali Bemammer – 6.5/10
Properly played the role of a holding midfielder as he was key in covering up whenever the Jamshedpur players came into his side. Stepped in the attack to challenge and win the ball and create opportunities for his team. Gave a lovely floated cross inside the box, which, to his dismay, did not go in. Scored the penalty, and luck was in his favour then.
CM – Nestor – 6.5/10
Won the ball multiple times to regain possession for his team. Had control of the ball inside the box in multiple instances, but Pronay read him like a book and stopped him from infiltrating. Made a shot in the dying moments of the first half but was saved by Albino. Made a very poor delivery off a free kick in the second half, which he could have done better
CM – Mayakkannan – 7/10
Had the big responsibility of covering Javi which he did in a pretty decent manner. He followed Javi everywhere and restricted him from crafting play. Once Javi had the better of him he had to commit an error which booked him under the referee. After tracking Javi for a long time he was seen exhausted.
LW – Alaaeddine Ajarie – 6.5/10
Surprisingly, he played in the right wing which could have been a tactical move deployed by the coach to create trouble to the opponents. Kept switching his base from left wing to right wing which surely frustrated the men in white. Took a beautiful long freekick which somehow found the fingertips of Albino and hit the post.
RW – Jithin MS – 6.5/10
Played on the left initially as Ajarie was playing on the right flank. However, he faced some difficulty as Pronay Halder and Eze stood as a big obstacle in front of him. Tried to make some runs and crosses inside the box, but was unable to squeeze in. Went for the goal himself, even though he had options to cross. Dropped down to defend when Uvais tried to make crosses.
CF – Guillermo – 6.5/10
Made the first shot on target very early, showing the team’s attacking intent and boosting their confidence. Was there to block off the shots taken by the opponents from set pieces. Found the back of the net but was ruled out as the referee called a handball in favour of Jamshedpur. His penalty was too precise and had too much power, and it hit the crossbar.
Sub – Thondonba- 6/10
Sub – Macarton – 6/10
Sub – Thoi – 6.5/10
Came in as a sub and became a hero by scoring the penalty
Coach – Juan Pedro Benali – 6.5/10
His tactical understanding came into play as he knew that Javi would be the man causing trouble, and for that, he kept Mayakkannan to shadow him. Lost on penalties, where the match was decided on luck.
Jamshedpur FC Player Ratings

GK – Albino Gomes – 7/10
He was challenged very early when Guillermo made a shot on target, but as usual, Albino stood as a wall and blocked it well. Had his fingertips to a strong shot taken by Ajarie in the form of a freekick, which slightly changed the direction of the ball and hit the post. He was not involved in the first two penalties as they went away from him.
LB – Muhammed Uvais – 6.5/10
Made some good crosses from the left to the second post where his tall players were positioned. When Jithin shifted to the right, he was the one who put pressure on him. However, the same Jithin later on was the one to drop down and defend when he made his presence in the attack.
CB – Stephen Eze – 7/10
Was lurking in the opponent’s box as usual to take advantage of his height and add to the work of the keeper, and put pressure on the backline. He was a bit inclined to the right side initially, as he was seen covering Ajarie when he tried to dribble past the fullback.
Once Jithin took control of the right wing, he was there to challenge him physically and keep things under control. Sometimes put his leg, sometimes stuck his head, and had a good performance overall. Chipped the ball over the post, giving a lifeline to NorthEast.
CB – Lazar Ćirković – 6.5/10
He was brave enough to put his head in some dangerous high-ball situations. Was in the way whenever NorthEast attempted to make some through balls inside the box. Marshalled the defence and was key in regrouping the backline whenever it felt like they lost focus. Scored the penalty.
RB – Ashutosh Mehta – 6.5/10
Had the same old duty of making the long throws, which he did well and added pressure to the opponents. Was there to clear the ball amidst the confusion when Guillermo attempted to make his moves? Stepped in when Ajarie went past Eze and Pranoy in a counterattack. Anticipated where the rebound would fall and positioned himself accordingly, and was successful a couple of times. Experience came hin Andy as he scored the penalty.
CM – Rei Tachikawa – 6/10
When NorthEast initiated a counter attack and Jamshedpur players did not track back properly, he made a tactical foul which booked him in the thirteenth minute. Was playing a bit resisted in the second half and avoided risks and that led to Bemammer winning many of the balls that was targeted to Rei. Tried for some screamers but missed horribly. Stood cool and scored the penalty comfortably.
CM – Pronay Halder – 6/10
Defended well physically which beating Jithin MS on the left wing. He was physically involved in the defence and also made his presence felt in the midfield. Stepped into the attack when the defence felt composed and had a pretty decent day.
RW – Nikhil Barla – 6/10
Was pretty active in the right wing but was closed down by Zabaco. Apart from that he had no much role in the match as in the attack he was succumbed by the solid defence of NorthEast.
AM – Javi Hernández – 6/10
Had a tough first half as he was shadowed properly by Mayakkannan, who resisted him from playing cage-free. He was restricted in the first half, which probably made him frustrated. He kept attacking and once got the better of Maya, which led to him winning a foul and the former getting a yellow card.
This gave Javi a bit more autonomy to play as Maya would play a bit safer from that moment. Went for a shot from out of the box, which was his first shot on target. Made a sliding challenge on Macarton in the final moments to keep the deadlock. Scored the penalty with full confidence with composure.
RW – Jordan Murray – 6/10
Made some turns inside the box and chipped the ball inside the box, but there was no man to put his head in the near post. Got a touch in the corner which he was not able to flick inside the box. Made a header on target, but it had no power and went straight to the keeper. Missed the penalty.
CF – Javier Siverio – 6/10
Made some shots that missed the goal by inches. Missed the goal by inches as he failed to properly read the flick from Murray that came from the corner kick. Did not have a good day at the office as he failed to go past the opponent’s defence. Once or twice, when he went past them, he was denied by the keeper. Stepped in and scored the penalty.
Sub – Sourav Das – 5/10
Sub – Sanan – 5/10
Coach – Khalid Jamil – 6.5/10
HIs team struggled in the first half. However came in with different plans for the second half which gave his team a much better position. Understood that Jithin could be beaten physically and deployed Pronay and Eze to deal the player. Had developed counter tactics for the tactics initiated by Benali. Was slow and steady and took his team to the win.
