Anthony Gordon reveals his goals and road he wants to take after retiring

After thriving for a lacklustre Everton side ever since his debut for the club, Anthony Gordon earned a big money move to Newcastle United last summer. The move came after reports indicated that the forward was keen on leaving and had attracted interest from several European sides. But the Magpies won the race and Gordon has thrived under Eddie Howe.

The 23-year-old has contributed to 20 goals so far this season, which includes 18 goal contributions (10 goals, 8 assists) in the Premier League alone. That has seen many tip Gordon for an even bigger move in the future especially if the forward keeps his form and consistency at this level. But the 23-year-old has bigger things on his mind as he has already started planning for life after retirement.

That was despite the fact that he’s only 23 but Antony Gordon revealed that he has already thought about his life post football and wants to potentially study psychology. The English forward was interviewed by Manchester United legend Gary Neville for The Overlap, and admitted that he has already spoken to friends and family about the same.

But Gordon added that he isn’t completely sure. However, the forward did reveal that he has some semblance for a plan for the future in mind even if his focus, for now, is on doing the best as a footballer.

“I was speaking to some close friends about this recently, because I feel my calling after football may have something to do with that – whether that be through football and management, or through the psychology route,” Gordon said in an interview with The Overlap.

“That may be my end goal – I’m not too sure yet, but I’m so invested in that stuff that it surely has to come to fruition at some point. As a footballer, I lead by example rather than being a big speaker, I’m very quiet in the dressing room.”
