Netherlands vs France Player Ratings: Rabiot and Van Dijk impress in hard fought 0-0 draw
Netherlands vs France Player Ratings: Rabiot and Van Dijk impress in hard fought 0-0 draw
France were held to a boring 0-0 draw against Netherlands in the third game of Friday’s Euro 2024 action.
Kylian Mbappe was watching with a broken nose from the bench as France looked clearly disjointed in attack without their talisman leading the line.
France missed a plethora of chances in the game, but it’s fair to say Netherlands deserved to get something out of that game considering how it all panned out at the Red Bull Arena, the home of football club RB Leipzig.
Netherlands National Football Team Player Ratings vs France
GOALKEEPER
Bart Verbruggen – 7 – Came up with multiple decent saves to keep Netherlands in the game
DEFENDERS
Denzel Dumfries – 5.5 – Handled Rabiot relatively well, but didn’t contribute enough up the field
Stefan de Vrij – 7 – Managed dealing with Griezmann and Thuram pretty well, a stable performance from the centre-back
Virgil van Dijk – 7 – Similar to De Vrij, Van Dijk looked as comfortable on the ball as he did off it, managing every French attack with flair.
Nathan Ake – 5.5 – Was dominated by Dembele throughout the game, didn’t get a chance to express himself
MIDFIELDERS
Tijjani Reijnders – 6 – Had some nice moments in dealing with the French attack from midfield, but was a bit inconsistent in linking with the attacking line
Jerdy Schouten – 6 – Second of two defensive midfielders, Schouten was handed a yellow card which limited his ability to freely express his attacking-breaking talents
Jeremie Frimpong – 5.5 – Was tried in a new role, but was largely ineffective on the right side of midfield, something to think about for the Dutch coach.
Xavi Simons – 6 – A lot was expected out of Simons, but he was inconsistent on the ball whenever he got the chance to impact the game.
Cody Gakpo – 6 – Jules Kounde dealt with the Liverpool man easily. Gakpo couldn’t disturb the French defence as much as he thought he would be able to.

SUBSTITUTES
Georginio Wijnaldum – 5
Joey Veermen – 5
