Austria stunned the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 group clash with a 3-2 win. Ralf Rangnick outsmarted Ronald Koeman with a Donyell Mallen own goal (6′), and goals from Romano Schmid (59′) and Marcel Sabitzer (80′) helped his side. Cody Gakpo (47′) and Memphis Depay (75′) were on the scoresheet for the Oranjes.

Bart Verbruggen- 7: While he conceded three goals, made a few important saves as well. Overall a mixed outing for the Dutch shot-stopper.
Defenders:
Lutsharel Geertruida– 6.5: Was good in duel situations and also passed the ball around well. However, failed to make any significant impact.
Stefan de Vrij– 6.5: The Dutch defense looked shaken throughout the game. Even the experienced De Vrij was no exception.
Virgil van Dijk– 6.5: As world-class as he is, Virgil van Dijk failed to marshall his backline in a solid manner.
Nathan Ake– 6.5: In line with the rest of the defense, Ake wasn’t so good. He was eventually hooked off.
Midfielders:
Tijjani Reijnders- 7.5: Had a good outing and was one of the few bright creative sparks for his team. He created a good chance and looked threatening with his passing.
Jerdy Schouten– 7: A stable performance in the middle of the pitch. However, he didn’t make any notable impact on the game.
Joey Veerman- 6: Struggled to find his feet and was taken off after only 35 minutes of action.
Forwards:
Cody Gakpo– 8: Scored a goal and created a good chance for his team. Overall had a good display.
Memphis Depay– 7.5: A mixed outing. Scored a spectacular goal, hit the woodwork once, missed a big chance, and also created a big chance. Certainly looked like the Dutch’s main attacking threat.
Donyell Malen– 6: Missed a sitter in the first half and overall had a disappointing game.

Florian Grillitsch– 7: Much like his midfield partner Grillitsch had a gritty outing in the middle of the park.
Romano Schmid– 7.5: Got on the scoresheet and made a few creative passes, including one key pass for his team.
Marcel Sabitzer– 8.5: The Dortmund midfielder continues his exceptional form. He scored a goal against the Dutch and was omnipresent throughout the game.
Patrick Wimmer- 6.5: Didn’t have a notable impact on the game and was also booked during the match.

Marko Arnautovic– 6.5: The veteran striker couldn’t be as threatening as he has the capability to be.
