Mouctar Diakhaby Injury Update – When will the defender return to action for Valencia?

Valencia centre-back Mouctar Diakhaby suffered a horrific injury after a collision with Aurelien Tchouameni in the match against Real Madrid which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni was trying to get inside the penalty box but lost his balance and fell on Diakhaby, bending the latter’s right leg with his whole weight. Even though the match ended in a 2-2 controversy, Diakhaby’s career-ending injury was the major talking point after the final whistle.

Players from both teams on the pitch looked distraught as the Guinea defender was stretchered off the pitch.

Valencia later announced that the defender had dislocated his right knee and will be undergoing further tests.

“Mouctar Diakhaby has been diagnosed with a dislocated right knee, in tests carried out following Valencia CF’s game at Mestalla against Real Madrid. The centre back remained in hospital overnight and will undergo further tests.”

On a positive note, Diakhaby has successfully undergone surgery and can be seen smiling in Valencia’s latest Twitter post.

Many doctors and experts speculated that the defender might never play football again due to several ruptured knee ligaments.

The 27-year-old defender is expected to spend an indefinite spell on the sidelines and might not play again this season.

Controversial end to the Real Madrid vs Valencia game

Referee  Jesús Gil Manzano blew his whistle when Brahim Diaz whipped a cross in the final minute of stoppage time, which was converted by midfielder Jude Bellingham.

But Bellingham seemed furious with the decision and surrounded the referee protesting the decision in what would have been Real Madrid’s winning goal of the night.

The English midfielder who returned after three weeks with an ankle injury will now serve a two-game suspension after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said the youngster showed ‘contempt or disregard’ towards the match official.

Real Madrid’s appeal against Bellingham’s red card has since been ruled out and the Englishman is set to support the team from the stands for his next two league games.
