Egypt’s forward Mostafa Mohamed’s injury report and his expected date of return
Mostafa Mohamed’s injury could prove to be a serious blow for Egypt in their World Cup Qualifier campaign
Egypt national team forward Mostafa Mohamed suffered a major injury blow in his country’s most recent World Cup Qualifier clash against Guinea-Bissau. From the early impressions, his injury did appear to be a serious one. Egypt did manage to draw their match against Guinea-Bissau, getting a point and staying on top of their Group A table. But, Mostafa’s injury will be hurting them.
The striker has really come and leaps and bounds since his debut for his national side. He is one of the key players for Egypt’s head coach Hossan Hassan. As per the recent reports, it looks like Mostafa Mohamed is still due for a scan which will further clarify the extent of his injury, which at this stage is cited to be a ‘knee ligament injury’.

The Country’s national team doctor has reportedly stated – “Mostafa Mohamed has suffered a knee ligament injury and will undergo further tests upon returning to Cairo”. At this point, it seems highly unlikely that, the 26-year-old will be playing a part in Egypt’s next World Cup Qualifier fixture against Ethiopia.
However, any further communication on Mostafa Mohamed’s injury still hasn’t come out from EFA’s hierarchy. Also, one can interpret that his expected date of return could only be made clear once his pending tests or scan results are available.

Mostafa Mohamed’s numbers for Egypt at the international stage so far in his career
Mostafa Mohamed made his debut for Egypt’s senior side on the international stage in March 2019. He had earlier represented the country’s under-23, and under-20 sides at the youth set-up. In his 37 caps for Egypt at the highest level till now, the 26-year-old has managed to net an impressive tally of 12 goals. His ability to make those timely runs towards the opponent’s half and being able to hold the ball has always aided Egypt in their style of play.
The striker plays for Ligue 1 side FC Nantes at the club level. After his eye-catching performances during his early years, Mostafa had been linked with some of the other top clubs in Europe in the recent past as well. Starting over 70 percent of the games, the Egypt-born forward has 10 goal contributions (eight goals and two assists) to his name for Nantes in the recently concluded 2023-2024 season of French top-tier football.
