Listing the 10 most expensive midfielders in FPL 2024/25

#1 Mohamed Salah

Mo Salah remains one of the strongest FPL assets for 2024/25. He is priced at £12.5m and at the time of writing, he is in 35.7% of the teams. Despite a slight dip in form compared to previous seasons, he still managed an impressive 200+ points, averaging 6.6 per game . Salah consistently delivers high shot volume, big chances, and penalty-taking duties.

While the new manager, Arne Slot, brings uncertainty, Salah’s proven track record and Liverpool’s attacking potential make him a solid option. Expect another solid campaign, keeping in mind that Slot does like playing attacking football.

#2 Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer emerged as a breakout star in FPL 2023/24, securing a record-breaking £5.5m price rise to £10.5m for the 2024/25 season. His impressive 244 points at the rate of 7.2 per gameweek and ten double-figure hauls positioned him as a top captaincy option. While it was expected that his new increased price tag might deter managers, Palmer’s potential for high returns and Chelsea’s favorable early fixtures means that a whopping 46.8 of managers have selected him.

However, it should be remembered that Palmer had a ridiculously high quality season last time around and it might be too much to expect the same again. Also worth mentioning is that Chelsea have a new manager in Enzo Maresca and a bunch of new players, so Palmer could take some time to settle in.

#3 Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka established himself as a premier FPL asset over the last few seasons, delivering consistent returns for Arsenal. His impressive goal and assist tally, coupled with strong underlying metrics, solidified his status as a consistently top scoring midfielder. Last season he averaged £6.5m points a gameweek.

While his price point has increased to £10m, thus reflecting his performances, Saka remains a strong contender for FPL teams. However, Arsenal’s challenging early fixtures means that you might choose to wait on him a little. He is presently in about a quarter of all FPL teams.

#4 Son Heung-min

Son Heung-min experienced a resurgence in form during the 2023/24 season, despite the departure of Harry Kane. He averaged a solid 6.1 points a game last campaign. While his goal-scoring exploits have always been impressive, his creative output also saw a notable increase.

However, Son tends to perform in patches, and Tottenham’s overall attacking strength remains questionable, despite manager Ange Postecoglou choosing to play positive football. He is priced at £10m and has been chosen by 11.5% of managers. Interestingly, Son played as a striker last season, but will return back to his favoured left side with the arrival of Dominic Solanke at Tottenham.

#5 Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne remains one of the best FPL assets, but there is always uncertainty about his fitness. His value has gone down to £9.5m and he is only 7.1% of all teams. De Bruyne‘s injury record over the last couple of seasons has been a little circumspect, probably leading to managers picking other options.

Despite this, his creativity and ball striking ability are unparalleled in the league. De Bruyne’s role as a set-piece taker is a significant advantage, and his ability to rack up assists and create chances is unmatched. Given his low price point and low popularity, he could be an excellent low risk option if fit.

#6 Phil Foden

Phil Foden finally delivered on his potential in 2023/24, shattering expectations with a record-breaking points tally with an average of 6.6 . His goal-scoring and creative talents were finally coupled with consistent game-time making him a great asset.

While his price has inevitably risen, at £9.5m, Foden remains a compelling option. It remains to be seen if Foden can manage to replicate his form from last season. His 26.3% ownership will certainly be hoping for the same.

#7 Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard has quietly become a reliable FPL option. His creativity is evident and he also has a frequent eye for scoring goals himself. Somehow he’s still underrated compared to a lot of his peers.

At £8.5m, he is definitely worth your attention. Odegaard’s points per game last season was 5.3 and this has caught the eye of 17.2% of the managers. Everything Arsenal do, flows through their Norwegian genius.

#8 Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes remains a terrific FPL force, thanks to his consistent goal involvement . As Manchester United’s primary playmaker, he offers a high chance of potential attacking returns.

However, his performance like United’s, often, goes through lean patches, leading to inconsistent point hauls. Even then, at £9.5m, Bruno is a great bet. Last season, he averaged 4.7 points per outing. This has led to him being owned by 13.9% of the managers.

#9 James Maddison

James Maddison showcased impressive creativity and goal-scoring ability that he had shown with Leicester City in his debut season for Tottenham. His set-piece delivery and knack for finding the net made him a valuable FPL asset.

However, his consistency wasn’t always there. He was exceptional in the first half of the season, but after that an injury kept him out for a lengthy period. Post his return, he struggled to hit form. At £7.5m, it could be worth it to wait on Maddison for a little while to see what his form is like. Only 5.3% of the managers have chosen him and he averaged 4.2 points last season.

#10 Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen is a usually reliable option, but this time, there are a number of factors at play here. West Ham have a new manager in Julen Lopetegui. The team including Bowen will have to get used to his system.

There are new additions in attack like Crysenco Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug. Whether or not Lucas Paqueta will get a betting sanction is unknown. At £7.5m, it might be worth waiting a little while before going for him, unlike the 7.4% who already have. He delivered 5.4 points a game last season.
