Is Mohamed Salah Saying Goodbye to Liverpool This Summer?
Mohamed Salah has a contract with Liverpool that runs till June 2025
The Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is expected to stay at the Premier League club Liverpool FC for the next season, as helmed by various recent reports. There were talks of the Winger leaving the club at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign with one year left on his contract. However, reports outline that he hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to exit in the summer as of now.
Meanwhile, it has been termed that the Reds also expect him to be a part of their squad for the next season under their new managerial appointment Arne Slot. The Merseyside club is set to lose their current manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, and losing Salah could further dampen their rebuilding process. So, it is understandable why the club wants to hang on to him.
During the previous two transfer windows, Mohamed Salah has attracted a lot of interest from the Saudi Pro League. It is also expected that the Saudis will return in the upcoming transfer window to continue their pursuit of the Egyptian player. In the summer of 2023, the Saudi-based club Al-Ittihad reportedly offered a huge sum of money to Liverpool to acquire the services of the 31-year-old. However, the deal never materialized as the Reds were reluctant to let their star player leave.
The numbers of Mohamed Salah for Liverpool in the 2023-2024 season so far
Mohamed Salah hasn’t been in that great form for Liverpool in recent times in the Premier League as the Reds have faltered in their title charge during the closing stages of the season. What’s notable is that despite his recent slump of form, the Egyptian still stands out as one of the top scorers in the ongoing top-flight campaign. Also, he has started just about 70 percent of the club’s matches in the league this campaign.
The Winger has 17 goals and nine assists to his name in his 29 appearances this season in the Premier League so far. He has also missed six matches this season in the league due to injury woes and from being away on international duty. Salah still holds the key for Klopp’s side in the remainder of their fixtures of this season’s run-in. Before Liverpool’s exit from the UEFA Europa League, Salah bagged five goals and four assists in his nine outings in the competition.
