“It’s always a decisive game” – Mohamed Salah optimistic ahead of Liverpool vs Man City in an interview with Jamie Carragher
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is optimistic about the Reds’ chances of winning their blockbuster Premier League clash against Manchester City this weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s men will travel to Anfield on March 10 looking for a win after the two sides played a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium in November.
Mohamed Salah gives candid interview with Jamie Carragher
Ahead of this game, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher took the opportunity to speak to Salah. He asked the Egyptian his thoughts ahead of the game against City and what it means to Liverpool.
“They are decisive games, if I am being honest. There have been a few years where they have won the league by one point, so when we lost at the Etihad, that was a game where they won the league.
“It’s always a decisive game and I think if we win the next game, we have a great chance to win the title. But I think we have to focus on what we can do and we go from there.”
Mohamed Salah also acknowledged the advantage a win would give his team over Arsenal, but ultimately conceded there is still a long way to go.
“That game is very important to give us a push that you want against Man City. The difference would then be three or four points against you, City and Arsenal.
“So, it’s still a long way to go. Also in the Europa League, in the semi-finals or final you will face some very good teams.”
The match will kick-off on Sunday, March 10 at 3:45 p.m. GMT.
The Egyptian’s incredible record against Man City
Mohamed Salah has established himself as a clutch player for Liverpool over the years. He steps up in big games and leads the team from the front. He has an incredible record against Manchester City, scoring 11 goals in 19 games against them. Salah has bagged six goals in his last nine games against Guardiola’s side.
“I just feel myself in that game, in the big games you just want to play and enjoy.”
This season, the 31-year-old has been sensational for Jurgen Klopp’s team. In 29 appearances across competitions, he has scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists and will look to continue adding to that tally.
