Mohamed Salah nominated for Premier League Player of the Month following remarkable start
The first Premier League Player of the Month Award for the 2024/25 season is nearing its announcement. Liverpool fans were glad to see their favourite, Mohamed Salah obtain a place amongst the nominees. Supporters can play their part in choosing the eventual winner by casting their vote on the official site of the Premier League. The winner will be announced next week, taking in the opinions of pundits and experts.
Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a stellar start to the new Premier League campaign. The Egyptian has bagged three goals and three assists in the opening three matchdays. The 32-year-old began his eighth season with Liverpool with a goal and an assist against Ipswich Town. The former Roma man capped off a brilliant month with a splendid display against Liverpool’s fiercest rivals, Manchester United. Salah has set the tone already to enjoy yet another highly productive season in the Premier League.

The Liverpool winger has been a major talking point in the media recently. Rumours surrounding his future have picked up pace lately and will not slow down until a real breakthrough is achieved in the contract negotiations. Mohamed Salah was also left out of the 30-man 2024 Ballon d’Or shortlist which has infuriated his fanbase. The Premier League Player of the Month nomination will provide a temporary relief to the tensions and uncertainty revolving around him.
Mohamed Salah to face stiff competition for August’s Premier League Player of the Month Award
Seven other accomplished stars from all over the Premier League will join Salah in the race to be crowned the Player of the Month. Amongst them is Chelsea’s Cole Palmer who has picked up right where he left off in the last season. Aston Villa’s new signing, Amadou Onana also makes the cut, having equalled his goal tally of last season along with delivering multiple solid midfield performances. Bryan Mbeumo and Bukayo Saka with three and four goal contributions respectively also earn a place in the nominees list.
The favourite to win the award, though, is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker has already scored two hattricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United. Haaland also found the back of the net against Chelsea in the club’s opening game of the season. The 24-year-old has acquired significant ground on his competitors like Mohamed Salah to be rewarded with the Golden Boot at the end of the season.
