Mohamed Salah gives shocking update about his future amid interest from other clubs
Liverpool FC are cruising in the English Premier League 2024-25 and the UEFA Champions League. But much to the array of their on-field success, they might get a blow off-field soon. Probably their biggest star in the current squad, Mohamed Salah might have to see his way out of the club after being an integral part since 2017, at least his latest interaction with the media hints so.
Following the club’s 2-3 win in the last Premier League outing against Southampton FC, in which Salah scored a brace, the Egyptian spoke to the media outside St. Mary’s. The press asked him about his future, as his current contract expires in June 2025. On asking for an update Salah stated that he still has not got any offers from the club, so he might be “probably” more out of the club than in!
The update comes as a shocker as Salah has been the best performer in not only Liverpool this season but also in the entire English top tier. The winger has 10 goals, the highest in the league only after Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. He also hails six assists, the highest only after Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka. Though the contract situation already seemed a bit doubtful, as Salah was seen posting on social media after the side’s 2-1 win against Brighton in November beginning, “No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”
Time running out for both parties
While many would have predicted after the statement that Liverpool might be considering someone else, younger, as Salah wouldn’t be playing for long. But, the 32-year-old also cleared the queries here. He said, “I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well.”
The update will leave fans disappointed, as it has left the player too. Commenting on the situation he said, “I’m disappointed but we will see.” He further added, “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this,” said Salah.”But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
