Mikel Arteta provides updates on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli’s fitness
While Arsenal faced Manchester City, the Gunners did so with a few key stars out injured including Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. However, while Saka was passed fit and started the game, Martinelli was only fit enough to start off the bench. The Gunners had other issues as well with Gabriel and Gabriel Jesus but both men were passed fit and started the game as well.
But Saka was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli and while that wasn’t the issue, the fact that the English international limped off the field was the bigger concern. It had many fans worried that Arsenal would lose their star ahead of what is a crucial run of games. The North Londoners have to face Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester United and a few other sides before the season is done.
Mikel Arteta provides an update on Bukayo Saka
But ahead of Arsenal’s midweek clash against Luton Town, Mikel Arteta provided an update on Bukayo Saka injury in his pre-match press conference. The Spaniard had a lot to say on the matter but assured fans that the forward is fine and will be subject to a fitness test before the game. Arteta also added that there has been no training so far which may have helped Saka’s case.
“Yeah, he’s fine. Obviously, we haven’t trained, but we recovered. We will have a short, light session and we’ll see if he is in the best condition to start the game,” Arteta said, reporting Football London.

Arteta issues positive updates on Gabriel Martinelli
The Gunners got back several stars after the international break including Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes with Gabriel Martinelli also on that list. But while the first two Gabriels started the game, Martinelli was used off the bench. Arteta revealed that Martinelli is fit and available to play against Luton as well.
“He is [available] because he was available to play against a really tough opponent two days ago,” he added.
