Czechia midfielder Michal Sadilek ruled out of Euro 2024 tournament

FC Twente midfielder Michal Sadilek has been ruled out of the Euro 2024 campaign after sustaining a leg injury while falling off a bike. The 25-year-old midfielder has played 24 matches for his nation and has scored one goal.

The midfielder also captained his side in Czechia’s thumping 7-1 win over Malta earlier this month. Sadilek played the entire minutes and was part of the Czech team that reached the quarter-finals in Euro 2020.

The national side will kick off the tournament against Portugal in Germany on June 18, 2024.

What has been said about Michal Sadilek injury?

Czechia midfielder Michal Sadilek has been ruled out of the Euro 2024 in Germany after sustaining an injury at the team’s training camp in Schladming, Austria. He was replaced by Slavia Prague midfielder Petr Ševčík who has 15 caps for the national side.

“Sadílek unfortunately fell while riding his bike and suffered a laceration in the leg,” the national team’s spokesperson said in a statement.

“This is a big setback for us, because Michal is one of our experienced players,” Czech Republic coach Ivan Hasek said. “It was not without reason that he wore the captain’s armband during the match against Malta.”

The former PSV midfielder featured in all five games in the European qualifying and his absence will be a major setback for manager Ivan Hasek
