Olise Chooses Bayern Over Chelsea: A Transfer Saga’s Latest Twist
Michael Olise’s Bold Move
Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise is set to join FC Bayern Munich turning down Chelsea for a second time. The 22-year-old has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the German giants who are eager to strengthen their squad after a disappointing season.
Bayern will need to pay over £55 million to trigger Olise’s release clause making it the most lucrative sale in Crystal Palace’s history.
Chelsea previously tried to sign Olise last summer for around £35 million and at that time they thought they had activated his release clause.
However, Olise signed a new four-year deal with Crystal Palace extending his stay until 2027 and increasing his buyout clause. There are reports that the clause is higher for clubs not in the Champions League.
Thus, Chelsea would have to pay more than £60 million for Olise due to their participation in the Europa Conference League next season.
A Stellar Season Despite Injuries
Olise is currently with the French Olympic squad after missing out on Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2024 roster. Despite an injury-ridden season, he managed to score 10 goals and provide six assists in 19 Premier League appearances. His impressive performances have kept him on the radar of top clubs.
Olise’s former club Reading is also set to benefit from the transfer with a significant sell-on fee. As the saga continues fans eagerly await the official confirmation of Olise’s move to Bayern marking a significant step in the young winger’s promising career.
