High-scoring venue
Chinnaswamy is traditionally known for fours and sixes and the batters tend to have a gala time whenever there is action here. Short boundaries, fast outfield, and a true batting wicket are a batter’s friend and Chinnaswamy has them all.
Dew Factor
Generally, one can expect dew to set in during the second half of the match and if that happens it could be tough work for the side bowling second. However, in the four matches played so far in this year’s WPL at this venue, there has been dew but not very significant.

MI-W vs UPW-W Match Prediction: Probable Playing 11s
Mumbai Indians Women Probable Playing 11
Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia (WK), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Amelia Kerr, Sajeevan Sajana, G Kamalini, Amanjot Kaur, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail, Parunika Sisodia
MI’s only concern would be Yastika Bhatia at the top of the order who was only managed 27 runs in 3 innings so far. However, they are expected to back their keeper-batter and go in with an unchanged 11.
UP Warriorz Women Probable Playing 11
Kiran Navgire, Vrinda Dinesh, Deepti Sharma (C), Tahlia McGrath, Shweta Sehrawat, Grace Harris, Chinelle Henry, Sophie Ecclestone, Uma Chetry (wk), Kranti Goud, Saima Thakor
UPW have not had the likes of runs they would from their top-order with the likes of Vrinda Dinesh and Tahlia McGrath not having great times with the bat. Their middle and lower-order has come to their rescue in the last couple of games. They might have thought about changes had the results been different in the last couple of games but expect them to keep the same team.

Mumbai Indians Women
Coming off a win against the home-side RCB in the first match of the Bengaluru leg this season, MI have slowly but surely started to find their groove and are looking a settled side at the moment with 4 points in three games, they are the only side to have plyed just the three games so far this season and are yet on number three in the points table.
Nat Sciver-Brunt’s dream run with the bat sees her on the second spot in the orange cap list with 179 runs in 3 matches at a strike-rate of 150.42. Hayley Matthews has not had the kind of season she would have liked with the bat so far but she has been MI’s best bowler with 6 wickets in 3 games.
The coming of age of Amanjot Kaur in the previous match against RCB where she picked up 3 wickets and guided her team home with a composed and unbeaten 34* with the bat augurs well for them.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur does not have a lot to worry about, including her own form having scored 96 runs in 3 innings including a fifty, other than her opening partnership and she would like her team to play to their potential.
UP Warriorz Women
UP Warriorz find themselves on a big high on the back of a couple of remarkable wins after a poor start to their campaign. Those wins have enabled them to be number 4 on the points table and now they have a realistic chance to jump up to the top with a win. UPW have set all kinds of records in the last couple of games, Chinelle Henry raced to a joint-fastest fifty off 18 balls against Delhi Capitals.
In the same game, young Indian uncapped seamer Kranti Goud announced herself with a 4-er and then Grace Harris capped it off with a hat-trick, just the third in the tournament history. Then, they were up against RCB with thousands of loyal RCB fans cheering against them and Sophie Ecclestone did the unthinkable.
They seemed to be dead and buried chasing 181, Ecclestone got them to a super over with some heroics with the bat and number 11 by her side. If that was not enough, she then defended 8 in the Super Over against Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh at Chinnaswamy.
They would be looking to go back to back to back now. Skipper Deepti Sharma would want to make a much more meaningful contribution as her returns have been low this season. Also, their top-order is also something that they might want to have a relook at.
MI-W vs UPW-W Toss Prediction: UPW to win and bowl first
Captains winning the toss generally have had no hesitation to bowl first at Chinnaswamy and that is how it works at this venue with the small boundaries and the threat of dew later in the match. Expect either of the captains to look to bowl on winning the toss.
MI-W vs UPW-W Score Prediction
Considering the average first-innings score of 155 and the fact that both these teams have many high-quality international batters in their line-ups, a first-innings score of around 170-180 could be expected in the match.
MI-W vs UPW-W Players to Perform Prediction
Mumbai Indians Women
- Nat-Sciver Brunt – She is the highest run-getter in the matches between both these teams with 186 runs at an average of 62. She also has 4 wickets against UPW and two player-of-the-match awards including one when these two teams met last. Safe to say, Nat Sciver-Brunt loves playing against UPW and you would back her to do well with the form that he is in.
- Hayley Matthews – The West Indian all-rounder is the highest wicket taker for MI this season with 6 wickets in 3 games so far. Although she does not have a great record against UPW with just one fifty in five games to go with 4 wickets, expect her to put in a good performance this time around.
- Amanjot Kaur – The Indian all-rounder is coming in on the back of a player-of-the-match performance where she shone the brightest in her team both with the bat and the ball. She will be carrying a lot of confidence into this encounter and will be looking to use all of that.
UP Warriorz Women
- Sophie Ecclestone – Someone in the UPW camp who will be carrying a whole lot of confidence is Sophie Ecclestone who single-handedly won them the game from a dire situation against RCB. She has not been at her best with the ball in this season but MI is an opponent she likes, she has picked up 7 wickets in 5 matches against them.
- Grace Harris – The dynamic Australian all-rounder has had a mixed bag so far in this season. While she is UPW’s leading wicket-taker with 6 wickets including a hat-trick, she has not really set the stage on fire with the bat mustering a mere 26 runs in 4 innings. She has a decent record against MI with the bat, 106 runs in 4 innings and this might just be her time to cash in.
- Deepti Sharma – Leadership has not really brought the best out of Deepti Sharma as a player so far with the all-rounder contributing just 84 runs and 4 wickets in 4 matches so far. She will want to lead from the front now specially in such a crucial encounter.
