“We have nearly the whole team ready”- Mauricio Pochettino comments on why Chelsea are ‘unlucky’ with the season ending’s timeline
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has bemoaned about the season ending’s timeline. Pochettino pointed out that the Blues have their whole squad fit at the moment. However, his team have only two games to go in the Premier League.
Throughout the season, Chelsea have suffered multiple injury issues. However, right now, the team’s key players are fit. Reflecting on that, Pochettino said (via CFCDaily on X):
“It is unlucky that it’s the end of the season because when you see the bench today we have nearly the whole team ready but it’s only two games until the end of the season.”
Chelsea, however, need to focus on finishing the season on a high note. Pochettino’s side have impressed in recent games, winning three of their last five league matches. They are seventh in the table with 57 points from 36 matches. A win against Brighton would help them mount pressure on sixth-placed Newcastle United.
Mauricio Pochettino comments on Wesley Fofana
Since joining Chelsea from Leicester City, Wesley Fofana has struggled with persistent injury issues. This season, Fofana hasn’t played a single game after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season. Pochettino has said that he expects Fofana to return in pre-season. He said (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
“We hope to have Wes Fofana ready and available for pre-season. He is doing well, very positive, we were talking and we hope he can be available to be part of the group.”
Fofana, however, is still only 23. Given the quality he has shown in his limited appearances for Chelsea and for Leicester City before that, the player could become an asset for the Blues in the future.
