Matt Turner Suffers Injury in Copa America Clash Against Panama

Matt Turner, the goalie for the United States men’s national team, suffered a significant injury during the Copa America match against Panama on Thursday, causing him to leave the game.

Turner connected with Panama midfielder César Blackman only eleven minutes into the Atlanta encounter. Turner was hit by Blackman while attempting to grab a long cross from the left, landing hard on his shoulder.

Despite being assessed by USMNT medical personnel on the field, the 30-year-old goalkeeper played the rest of the first half but was unable to continue owing to pain. Ethan Horvath replaced him at halftime.

Turner was later taken from service due to a leg injury, according to Fox reporter Jenny Taft.

The match ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat for the USMNT, with Panama pulling off a surprise victory in the group stage of Copa America.
