Manuel Ugarte says he is happy to finally join Manchester United after waiting for months

Fans started to think Manuel Ugarte’s signing by Manchester United was nearly falling apart as the rumours went on and off. However, The Red Devils eventually secured the deal and presented the player in front of the Old Trafford crowd minutes before playing Liverpool last week.

For about two months the talks were stalling. The player himself admitted that it was not a simple process but is happy that the deal finally materialised. With United, Ugarte will wear jersey number 25, a number which was previously worn by Jadon Sancho, who switched to fellow Premier League side, Chelsea.

Ugarte admitted that the process was ‘long’

The Uruguayan acknowledged the responsibility and the expectation on his shoulder to play for a club like United. Ugarte also mentioned how reputable Old Trafford is and how the club is highly admired by people around the world.

“This club, this stadium… legendary,” the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X post. “We all know what a massive club United is, one of the best teams in the world.

“It’s a dream come true to join United. I’m really happy because it’s been a very long process!”.

Ugarte had to postpone his debut with United because his transfer was too close to the transfer window closure. He ensured that when the time came, he would do his best to bring United to a better place than they are now.

“We had to calm the anxiety a little. Now that it has happened, I am very happy, thrilled, and very hungry and excited,” he said via 90 mins. “New owners have arrived and they are changing many things.

“The project is very good and I love the atmosphere there on a daily basis, and the desire to succeed in that team. That motivates me to want more. Also, the history that this team has.”
