Bayern Munich skipper Manuel Neuer has been sidelined after sustaining an injury in the last game. The German shot-stopper injured himself while celebrating a goal in Bayern’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the RO16 of the Champions League.
Bayern Munich took to their social media handles and issued a statement stating, “Manuel Neuer suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right calf in the 3-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Champions League game on Wednesday evening. The diagnosis was confirmed by the FC Bayern medical unit. The record champions’ goalkeeper will therefore be out for the foreseeable future.
Bayern’s head coach Vincent Kompany also addressed the media and gave an update about Neuer’s availability.
“I assume Manuel will need time until the international break to recover. But we don’t know. It could take longer. We’re pleased there’s a break coming up. I think that’ll help us.” Kompany stated.

The former Germany captain’s injury came in as bad news for the record Bundesliga champions on a rather perfect evening. The hosts were leading 1-0 before wonderkid Jamal Musiala scored a second goal. Neuer joined the goal celebration but ended up tearing his calf in the process. He was then seen limping off the pitch a few moments later.
