Manchester United winger Antony set to miss games after injury in Europa league draw against Fenerbahce

Manchester United winger Antony is set to miss a number of games after being taken off due to an injury in the 89th minute during their 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce.

Antony Injury Update: Latest News and Expected Return

The Brazilian came on the pitch to replace Marcus Rashford in the 73rd minute of their Europa League clash but had to come off just 16 minutes later. After the match, he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag felt sorry during the post-match press conference after seeing him carried off the pitch at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium. “It’s really unlucky for him. Hopefully, it’s not too bad; we have to wait 24 hours for what the assessment is.”

The Dutch manager also added about the player’s hard work during the training session. He added, “His training performances are that good that he deserved to come on. When you have to come off so quickly, that is really sad to see.”

The 24-year-old winger has struggled for game time under Ten Hag this season, with just five appearances across all competitions. Apart from this, United drew their third successive game in the Europa League on Thursday night in Istanbul. As per various reports, Antony could miss 3-4 upcoming games for Manchester United squad.

Manchester United’s injury worries

Erik Ten Hag is currently dealing with a lot of injury problems, with Antony being the latest addition to that list. Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, and Jonny Evans were missing from the squad that travelled to Turkey along with Lenny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, and Luke Shaw. A sigh of relief for the manager as club captain Bruno Fernandes is expected to be available for Sunday’s Premier League trip to West Ham after he served his one-game suspension in Europe.
