Manchester United player ratings vs Liverpool

GOALKEEPER

André Onana – 5.5

Failed to make a single save in the game and conceded from every shot he faced. He did not do anything in the entire game and was just a spectator.

DEFENDERS

Noussair Mazraoui – 6.5

Could not do much to stop the goals from Luis Diaz as he left the man unmarked both times. Was lucky to have not given away a penalty late in the game with his clumsy tackle.

Matthijs de Ligt – 6

Not the home debut start he was hoping for as Liverpool forwards had a field day against him. Got booked in the second half before he was replaced by Harry Maguire.

Lisandro Martínez – 6

The Butcher was never in position and was getting sucked out because Casemiro and Mainoo were leaving a lot of space. Won 50% duels but just never managed to stay close to Jota and Salah, giving them a lot of space to work with.

Diogo Dalot – 6.5

Did better than the other Manchester United defenders but still not enough. He never got the help needed on his flank but still impressed.

MIDFIELDERS

Casemiro – 5

Gave away the ball cheaply for the first goal and then got caught out for the second. He was taken off in the halftime break by Erik ten Hag.

Kobbie Mainoo – 5.5

The youngster was not at his best today and was finding it hard to deal with Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Gravenberch. He played the whole game but never made an impact.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5

There were loud boos when Erik ten Hag chose to take off the Argentine but he had hardly done anything on the pitch to prove his worth. He managed just 16 passes, failed to have a shot, and created just one chance.

Bruno Fernandes – 8

Kept trying until the end of the match but never managed to get the help. Was all over the pitch, but his passes were never converted.

FORWARDS

Marcus Rashford – 6

Played the whole game but never managed to get a shot away. He was making his way into the box a lot but never in the right position when needed.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5

Along with Casemiro, easily the worst player on the pitch. Never managed to get into the right position, and the one time he did, the shot was well off target.

SUBSTITUTES

Toby Collyer – 6

Harry Maguire – 6

Amad Diallo – 6

Christian Eriksen – 6

GOALKEEPER

Alisson – 7

Had to make just one big save in the game and was never really troubled by the Manchester United forwards. The Brazilian was calm and composed throughout the game.

DEFENDERS

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

Scored in the first half, but it was ruled out as Salah was offside. He did not have anything significant to do in his 75 minutes on the pitch, but he kept losing possession.

Ibrahima Konaté – 7.5

Rock solid at the back and never broke a sweat to keep Joshua Zirkzee and other Manchester United forwards in check. Never put a foot wrong in the entire match and lost just one duel.

Virgil van Dijk – 7.5

Was ready to challenge Manchester United forwards at every chance and lost just one duel in the entire match. He also finished the match with 96% pass success and also one key pass.

Andrew Robertson – 7

Was hardly troubled by Alejandro Garnacho and the defender was seen strolling around the half line most of the time. He did not make too runs forward and was playing more like a 3rd center-back.

MIDFIELD

Ryan Gravenberch – 8

Solid defensively and also managed to make his way up when needed.

Alexis Mac Allister – 7

Controlled the midfield and never looked out of place.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 8

Got into a lot of good positions in the attacking third but just kept delaying his shots. Could have scored a couple of goals himself.

FORWARDS

Luis Díaz – 9

Two goals in the first half made him the second Liverpool player to do it since 2020 after Mohamed Salah. Made just 10 passes and was isolated a lot, but every touch was vital for the Reds.

Diogo Jota – 7

Not his best game as he managed just one shot in the entire match. However, it was off target and he was not getting into the right position today.

Mohamed Salah – 10

After the match, he said it was mostly his final game at Old Trafford with Liverpool. He will be proud of it as he finished with two assists and a goal!

SUBSTITUTES

Cody Gakpo – 6

Conor Bradley – 6

Darwin Núñez – 6

Konstantinos Tsimikas – 6
