Manchester United vs Bournemouth Player Ratings As It Was All Cherries In The Theatre Of Dreams This Sunday

The Red Devil’s fixture in the EFL Cup was no short than a 90-minute entertainment in every end of the pitch. What Manchester United could not do in the midweek looked forward to doing it in Sunday’s fixture against Bournemouth.

Against Spurs, Amorim’s team came off a little short as they were about to have the greatest comeback but failed. Coming into the game in Old Trafford, there was no space for Rashford in this game as well. While the likes of Mason Mount and Shaw were already out of the lineup due to injuries, there was no good news for the Bournemouth as well since Araujo, Sensei, and others are out due to injury.

The match kicked off and it was all to play for both teams as the first 10 minutes saw attack from both ends. Bournemouth looked great going forward and in the 29th minute, a set piece gave them their first goal, scored by the defender Hujisen. After conceding the goal, Man Utd were on the front foot to equalize but failed multiple times. The half time ended with the visitors having a goal advantage.

A sloppy challenge from Mazaroui on Kluivert saw a penalty awarded to the visitors. Calm as Ice, the penalty expert converted the spot kick and gave the visitor a two goal lead. Couple minutes later and a quick link up play saw the score 0-3 in the Theatre of Dreams.

The game was 0-3 up till the 90th minute. Even though the home team looked aggressive to get at least something, it stayed 0-3 till the additional time. The home fans who left early did not miss anything as the score stayed like that till the full-time whistle.

Overall it was a poor performance from the Red Devils. And it was a Merry Christmas for the visitors. Here are the player ratings for the game as Manchester United sees themselves at the bottom of the list after a long time.

Goalkeeper

Onana (6/10)

Had no chance to save the first goal as it was well-placed by the Bournemouth defender.

Defenders

Maguire (6/10)

The Englishman have improved a lot since his disastrous form last season. Looked strong in the defense line and keeping a high line as well.

Mazaroui (6/10)

The formation Amorim started the game with suits him well. Looked lively throughout the game. A sloppy challenge led up to a 0-2 score for the visitors in the 61st minute.

Martinez (6/10)

While Licha is not at his best yet in the squad, he had a good game against the Cherries.

Midfielders

Dalot (6.5/10)

Even though, the Portuguese started in the midfield for Amorim’s game, he had made a quite a few blocks in the edge of the box that could have seen the net.

Ugarte (5/10)

Played his part to United’s average midfield today. He was subbed off in 54th minute when Amorim wanted to introduce an attacking change.

Mainoo (5.5./10)

The Youngster needs more freedom in order to show his flair with the ball and control the tempo of the game.

Malacia (4.5/10)

Gave away a clumsy free kick which saw the first goal in the game. Needs more synergy with the team to have a greater impact. GOt subbed in second half.

Diallo (6/10)

Seems to be a great addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad. From controlling the ball in the compact spaces to making spaces, he is an integral part of Man United’s game.

Fernandes (6.5/10)

If there is any player who can be described as the golden key of Manchester United, it is him. Had quite a few go-to Kepa and almost scored a screamer around the end of the first half.

Forwards

For 45th minute, he was not there in the match. Poor off-the-ball movements from the Manchester United forward. Got subbed off in 54th minute.

Came in for Malacia in 45th minute.

Garnacho (4.5/10)

Came in when Zirkzee and Ugarte came off in the 54th minute. Almost scored a goal but the Bournemouth defenders did just enough to take the sting out of his shot in the 65th minute. Made a great run at the end of the game but there was no end product.

Hojlund (4.5/10)

Came along Garnacho in the 54th minute.

Manager

Ruben Amorim (6/10)

How patient can the Portuguese be? All eyes on his changes in terms of strategy on and off the pitch with the locker room he has.

He needs to focus on the game more. Bad reading of the game and poor techniques with passing and shooting. However, he won a penalty in the 58th minute and then converted the spot kick.

Ouattara (4.5/10)

Be it the short passing play to make spaces or the long balls, he was great in the evening for the Cherries. His exquisite cut-back gave Semenyo an easy tap-in.

Semenyo (5.5/10)

Played a great part in making space for the runs and gliding the ball to launch attacks. Was instrumental in Bournemouth’s first 30 minute attacking. Scored the third goal and threw the dagger in the evening’s fixture.
