Manchester United to leave Erik Ten Hag’s future to the new CEO
Erik Ten Hag’s future will be decided this summer but it’s not up to Sir Jim Rattclife whether he leaves or to stay. Sir Jim, the minority shareholders of the club will delegate the control to Omar Berrada, the current CEO to take any football decisions within the club.
Berrada was hijacked from the city rival Manchester City to be in charge of the club’s operations. He was the man behind City’s two big transfers Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish. Owing to his expertise, Sir Jim would not intervene in any decision regarding the field of play area.
According to the latest report, it is suggested that Ten Hag was involved in United’s pre-season plan, meaning that leaving the club is not a final call for the Dutch manager.
Various rumours over Erik Ten Hag’s future
“United are operating under the working assumption Ten Hag will remain in charge next season,” Samuel Luckhurst wrote on Manchester Evening News. “The Dutchman has been involved in the planning for the pre-season tour of the United States and recruitment ahead of the summer transfer window.”
Meanwhile the former United player Gary Neville believes that the decision has already been made but not just yet announced to the public.
“If you look at [Omar Berrada] coming in from City as CEO, and looking to get Dan Ashworth from Newcastle, they’re going to make a decision quite quickly if they haven’t already,” Neville said on Monday Night Football via MSN. “I suspect Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dave Brailsford already know whether Erik ten Hag will be the manager next season.
“I can’t believe they’re going to wait until May to make that decision, and then leave themselves short,” Neville said on Monday Night Football.
Manchester United expecting Omar Berrada’s negotiation skill
United need Berrada’s negotiation skill in order to avoid the club from another transfer disaster as they have done in the past. Pogba’s record-breaking deal, Alexis Sanchez huge salary, and an impulsive move for Cristiano Ronaldo just to keep him away from City caused a huge loss to the club’s cash balance.
Berrada was also the man behind City’s decision to pull away from potential transfers of Harry Maguire and Declan Rice, who eventually joined United and Arsenal respectively. Sir Jim will trust Berrada to keep the salary ceiling at £300,000-a-week with terms and conditions that might apply.
In the coming months, INEOS, which Sir Jim plotted his money through to acquire United, reportedly to secure another executive signing. Dan Ashworth who currently works for Newcastle United, set to join the Old Trafford-based side, acting as a sporting director.
