Manchester United lead chase for Ivan Toney transfer
Despite his nearly six month ban for allegedly placing bets, Ivan Toney has still managed to attract a lot of suitors with the forward reportedly keen on leaving Brentford. The 28-year-old has put in average performances since his return to the team, netting four goals in 13 games. It has played a role in the Bees’ struggles this term but despite that, Toney is still attracting a lot of attention.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are all still reportedly in the running to sign the English forward although Arsenal reportedly are looking at other options as well. But with less than 15 months left on his current contract, the Bees have struggled to reach an agreement on an extension and are open to letting him leave this summer.
Manchester United keen on signing Ivan Toney transfer
The forward is also keen on leaving the club, whether it’s this summer or when his contract expires in the summer of 2025. That has attracted suitors and 90min has reported that Manchester United currently lead the race for the 28-year-old. The Red Devils are on the search for a new striker this summer and have already created a shortlist for the same.
Their list reportedly includes Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyökeres alongside Toney but 90min has reported that United have been impressed by Toney. The club reportedly believes that the forward would bring in leadership, confidence and experience to their squad, something they lack. Not only that, the Red Devils know that both Sesko and Gyokeres will have several clubs after that.
Furthermore, 90min has reported that Manchester United are looking to strengthen several positions within their team and are thus looking to find the best option in the market. Toney fits that bill as the club are confident they can sign him for around £50m. That is especially given the fact that he’ll have less than one year left on his contract in the summer.
