Manchester United has secured the services of Joshua Zirkzee
Manchester United has confirmed the first signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for a fee of €42.5m. The Dutch striker has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils with the option of an additional year.
The 23-year-old forward scored 12 goals and made seven assists as Bologna qualified for the Champions League last season. He was honoured with Serie A’s U-23 Player of the Season after a sensational year with Bologna.
New sporting director Dan Ashworth who was recently appointed in the role reacted to the Zirkzee transfer.
“Securing a forward to enhance our already strong group of attacking players was a key aim for this summer. We are delighted that we’ve managed to sign a player of Joshua’s calibre this early in the transfer window,” said Ashworth.
The former Bayern Munich forward will provide support to Rasmus Hojlund in the final third.
