Man City vs Real Madrid Player Ratings as Bernardo Silva Fails to Score Penalty
Real Madrid have done it once again, but they needed the penalty shootout to get into the semifinal.
Rodrygo scored the opening goal for the Spanish side, but they could not add more. Kevin de Bruyne scored in the second half for Manchester City to take the game into extra time.
The added 30 minutes could not separate the two sides and it was time for the penalty shootout. Luka Modric was the first to take for Real Madrid but he had his effort saved.
However, he was the only one who missed for the Spanish side. Andey Lunin was the hero for the Blancos as he saved the penalties from Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic to help his side win the tie. Here are the Man City vs Real Madrid Player Ratings:-
Manchester City player ratings
Ederson – 8 – Saved Luka Modric’s penalty
Kyle Walker – 8 – A captain’s display from Walker today as he managed to stay with Vinicius Jr and ensure the Brazilian got no chance to score.
Manuel Akanji – 7.5 – Almost looked like he spent more time as a second striker today than a defender. He could not do much in the final third, but the defending was spot on.
Rúben Dias – 8 – A rock at the back once again. Managed to end every single Real Madrid attack with ease in the second half.
Joško Gvardiol – 7.5 – Deployed as a left-back again, he did exceptionally well to stop counters and stick to his position in the first half.
Rodri – 8 – Was the key figure once again as Manchester City kept possession. He was looking to shoot but Real Madrid were unwilling to give him space.
Phil Foden – 8 – Was getting into the right spaces and positions on the pitch, but was closely marked by Real Madrid players in the 120 minutes. Scored his penalty in the shootout.
Kevin De Bruyne – 8.5 – Scored the important goal in normal time but should have won it minutes later with the shot he skied from close range.
Bernardo Silva – 7 – Was decent in the 120 minutes but his penalty was awful and was saved by Lunin without moving an inch.
Jack Grealish – 7 – Gave Carvajal a tough time tonight and was driving into the box at every chance. Could not get on the scoresheet again.

Real Madrid player ratings
Andriy Lunin – 9.5 – One of the best games for the Real Madrid goalkeeper, if not his best. Made 8 saves in the game and then added two crucial saves in the penalty shootout.
Daniel Carvajal – 8 – Gave it his all on the pitch but had to come off in extra time due to cramps. He ensured Grealish and Doku did not get on the scoresheet or assist.

Toni Kroos – 7 – Was brilliant in defending today, more than the midfield and attack. He stuck with Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva every time they entered the box.
Federico Valverde – 6.5 – An off day, but overall, he managed to get the job done quietly.
Jude Bellingham – 8 – Gave it his all in the 120 minutes and it was a surprise to see him play the whole game as looked done & dusted midway in the second half. Scored his penalty in the shootout.
