Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips attracting interest from several Premier League clubs for January move
According to Sky Sports, a number of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the ongoing January transfer window.
Phillips has had a tough time at Manchester City since arriving from Leeds United for around £50 million in 2022. He has made a total of 31 appearances across competitions for the Cityzens.
The Englishman has started just two games this season and played 318 minutes across 10 total appearances. He is evidently surplus to requirements at City and could leave this January.
The likes of West Ham United, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing Phillips on loan. However, Manchester City’s demand could potentially make a transfer difficult.

As per Sky Sports, City want a loan fee of £5 million and also the club that’ll take Phillips on loan to pay most of his £375,000 per week wages. This could prove to be tough for some clubs to fulfil but the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace have already made initial contact with Pep Guardiola’s side.
West Ham and Newcastle are highly interested but Phillips’ wages could prevent them from signing him. Moreover, the Magpies are already dealing with FFP issues and will need to sell some players to make a permanent signing.
Along with the Premier League clubs, Juventus are also monitoring Phillips for a potential January transfer. However, they have the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Jordan Henderson on their list as well.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had said earlier this season that he’s been unfair on Phillips and he can leave in search of regular game time. Moreover, with UEFA Euros set to place later this year, the midfielder will want to make his claim to feature in the England squad.
Phillips has made 31 appearances for the Three Lions so far, scoring one goal and providing two assists. However, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, and Jordan Henderson in contention, Phillips will need regular playing time to feature in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
