Man Utd vs Everton Player Ratings as Rashford and Fernandes score penalties in a routine win at Old Trafford
Man Utd vs Everton Match Summary
Manchester United secured a straightforward 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday, March 9.
The Red Devils made a good start to the game and began on the offensive as they looked to grab an early lead. However, Everton’s James Tarkowski made things easier for the hosts after he fouled Alejandro Garnacho in the box to concede a penalty. Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes stepped up and scored to make it 1-0 after just 12 minutes.
United looked pretty good going forward in the first half. They had nine attempts, with five of those on target. Meanwhile, Everton managed just two shots on target from 11 attempts. The Toffees’ poor discipline in their 18-yard box continued as Ben Godfrey fouled Garnacho in the 35th minute. Marcus Rashford stepped up to take the spot-kick this time and scored to make it 2-0.
The second half saw the game become a bit more end-to-end as Manchester United and Everton shared the ball nearly equally. Both goalkeepers put in solid performances in the second half as they made multiple saves. Neither side created enough to threaten and could not add to the total as the game ended 2-0 in the hosts’ favour.
