Man United vs Burnley Preview

Man United vs Burnley will take place at Old Trafford in the Premier League as the 7th-placed side gears up to host the team in 19th on April 27.

The Red Devils will enter this contest having qualified for the FA Cup Final after a dramatic win against Coventry City in the semi-final. They led 3-0 but the game ended 3-3 after extra-time, following which they won 4-2 on penalties. That ended a run of four winless games, where United managed three draws and one defeat. They then defeated Sheffield United 4-2 at home. Having conceded 13 goals in their last five games, they will look to steady the ship and play better next time around.

Burnley, on the other hand, finds itself in a decent run of form. They have lost just twice in their last eight games across competitions. However, they have also won just two of those games, securing four draws in the process. Currently three points away from safety, a major upset would be needed, but it’s possible considering they have already done it back in 2020. The Clarets smashed Sheffield United 4-1 in their last game and will be optimistic about striking the faltering Red Devils.

That said, let’s take a look at the team news coming out from both camps.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be without some of his key players for the next game. Long-term absentees Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw (muscle), Victor Lindelof (hamstring) and Lisandro Martinez (calf) will all remain sidelined for the foreseeable future. They could even miss the rest of the season.

Defence is a major area of concern for the Dutchman as Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans missed the last game through muscle injuries. However, they could be declared fit in the 11th hour.

Burnley

Manager Vincent Kompany will be without a few of his players for the trip to Old Trafford. Long-term absentees Luca Koleosho (knee) and Jordan Beyer (hamstring) have been out for a few months and are likely to miss the rest of the campaign.

Aaron Ramsey, Nathan Redmond and Ameen Al-Dakhil missed the last couple of games and could return to action in the next week or so.

Man United vs Burnley Prediction

Considering we are nearing the end of the season and each point counts for a lot, Burnley will be expected to give it their all in this game. Seeing that United have won just once in their last five, one cannot put it past them to drop a few more points in this one. If Burnley gets their lineup and game plan right, they could even win this.

Prediction: Man Utd 2-2 Burnley.
