Man Utd Crisis Deepens: Raphael Varane Out for Season, Evans Also Sidelined
Manchester United‘s defensive concerns have deepened as the club confirmed that Raphael Varane will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscular injury sustained in their recent match against Chelsea.
Raphael Varane Injury Sidelines Him
With Varane’s contract set to expire in the summer, there are fears that this injury could potentially mark the end of his season and his time at Old Trafford.
The absence of Varane adds to United’s ongoing fitness issues, particularly in defense, where players like Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia have all faced significant spells on the sidelines throughout the season.
Varane’s injury comes after being substituted at halftime in both the draw against Brentford and the defeat to Chelsea.

Other Injury Problems and Replacements
In addition to Varane, veteran defender Jonny Evans will also be unavailable due to a muscle problem, although his absence is described as shorter-term.
This leaves manager Erik Ten Hag with limited options at the back, with Harry Maguire likely to partner with youngster Willy Kambwala for the foreseeable future.
Ahead of their upcoming clash with Bournemouth, where United will look to avenge their previous 3-0 defeat, ten Hag will provide further updates on the squad’s fitness.
With players like Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay also dealing with knocks, and others like Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial already sidelined, United faces a challenging period as they aim to finish the season strongly, with FA Cup aspirations still alive.
