Man United striker Marcus Rashford went on a 12-hour tequila bender in Belfast
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is under fire after reports emerged of a 12-hour bender in Belfast resulting in him going to bed fully clothed at 3 am. This comes days after he missed the FA Cup win over Newport due to alleged illness, prompting manager Erik ten Hag to promise “dealings” with the player.
According to The Sun, Rashford visited Belfast to party with a friend, indulging in tequila shots and cocktails during a long lunch. A waitress at the restaurant, Sarah Adair, claims Rashford barely touched his food and instead inquired about tequila options. He even reportedly asked if any clubs would stay open past the usual 3 am closing time.
After a cupboard change at Adair’s place, Rashford then allegedly booked out the top floor of Villa Italia restaurant, bringing his own tequila bottle while his entourage circulated another bottle of Patron.
“I’m not surprised he missed training,” Adair remarked, “given how late he got to bed and how much he’d had to drink.”
Despite a friend reminding him of training, Rashford reportedly opted for more partying, heading to Thompson’s Garage nightclub. Pictures of him surfaced there, just hours before he was due at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground.
While a source close to Rashford claims he left the club at 1.15 am, Adair insists the group stayed until 2 am before security ushered him to bed. He then ended up fully dressed in Adair’s bed at the Fitzwilliam Hotel.

This night out has unsurprisingly drawn the anger of both Ten Hag and Man United fans. Rashford has been fined two weeks’ wages for his actions, but the question remains: how will this affect his position at the club, and has he damaged his reputation beyond repair?
The coming days will likely bring further developments and more questions about Rashford’s future at Manchester United. However, The English International has scored 4 goals and 2 assists in his 20 games in the Premier League. His overall performance for Man United includes 127 goals and 74 assists in 385 appearances.
